The Business Analyst is an integral part of the technology team focused on logistics and field service business projects and support. This role interacts with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to understand their problems and needs. Gathers, documents, and analyzes business needs and requirements. Solves business problems and, as needed, designs technical solutions. The Business Analyst evaluates and tests new or modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to establishment guidelines.

What you'll do:

Project support

  • Manages on-going expansion and IT improvement processes for assigned businesses
  • Provides leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating and conducting information gathering structured documentation and presentation of findings
  • Liaises with internal customers and IT departments and follows up to completion on various programming and IT issues
  • Evaluates new features and functionality available in upcoming releases
  • Manages queue of reporting/enhancement requirements from user base
  • Partner with internal and external vendor Business Analysts on projects 

Application support

  • Maintains current project notes and communicate the information to the business partner and developers
  • Works independently and collaboratively with developers in troubleshooting system failures and data discrepancies
  • Partners with business to identify and resolve data discrepancies
  • Administers user acceptance testing for all new software developed providing final approval for project to be moved into production
  • Defines and executes regression test plans to assist in implementation of bug fix and upgrade releases
  • Support internal and external Help Desk resources with unresolved questions from application users
  • Respond to most complicated questions from users, after first two tiers of Help Desk have escalated the issue 

Documentation

  • Responsible for accurate and detailed SDLC documentation including functional requirements, test plans and test scripts
  • Assists with screen design
  • Interacts with Programmer during development to provide design question answers
  • Tests requested functionality after development is complete
  • Tests interfaces with other systems for conflict and user interface
  • Works with business partner to understand workflow and gaps. Translates and documents into business and functional requirements.
  • Performs ongoing documentation of enhancements to applications 

Customer satisfaction

  • Identifies, researches, and resolves problems
  • Duplicates either the failure in the process or the code; documents the problem and ascertains corrections to be made
  • Administers time entry and documentation 

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree; preferably in Information Technology or Business OR equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Good understanding of mobile, ERP and Logistics systems and technologies
  • Analytically oriented with strong documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients daily
  • Experienced in relational database analysis with strong data query skills
  • Experienced with Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Excel
  • Ability to distill information and articulate business needs to developers
  • Understanding of relationships between theoretical information and data
