As Health Plan Strategy and Market Insights Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to join a high-performing team within the Strategy Department in the Office of the President, responsible for leading Corporate and Market Strategy at Mass General Brigham Health Plan. The program manager will focus on two key responsibilities: managing the annual corporate strategic planning process; and project managing certain market research and industry intelligence vendors to generate actionable insights to drive strategy and identify key priorities which support strategic goals. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

Strategic Planning

  • Manage annual corporate strategic planning process for Mass General Brigham Health Plan so it is aligned with other planning horizons and supports a year-round calendar of planning activities
  • Employ templates to ensure that Mass General Brigham Health Plan’s strategic objectives and initiatives are prioritized in department-level business plans, and are aligned with MGB’s Strategy and Transformation Roadmap
  • Manage the in-flight strategy execution system, including quarterly strategy reviews, Balanced Scorecard, and strategic narrative development. 
  • Convert strategy into roadmaps, business cases, and initiatives while prioritizing timelines and ensuring alignment and execution
  • Collaborate with Mass General Brigham’s Strategy, Planning, and Intelligence Organization to advance health plan-specific strategic priorities. 
  • Work on special projects to evolve and enhance the Corporate Strategy function and processes
  • Deliver on a wide range of strategic planning activities, including ad-hoc support of strategic projects, and strategy execution

Market Insights 

  • Employ project management skills to plan, organize, and execute multi-year market research tracking studies to measure, analyze and report on changes in key business and market metrics to identify strategic business implications and frame actionable recommendations.
  • Plan, design and manage market research projects partnering with business areas, senior leaders and external vendors, to support department and enterprise-wide goals.
  • Develop and contribute to regular strategic intelligence and ad hoc reports, identifying the implications and conclusions.
  • Organize insight and analysis to be relevant to business areas and easy to read and understand as well as defining “so-what” implications. 
  • Synthesize industry intelligence and market research to lay the groundwork for insight and strategy.
  • For tracking market research projects, develop and lead process to monitor changes over time, report implications for the business and opportunities for improvements and participate in framing actionable recommendations.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple concurrent market research projects 
  • Develop and maintain work plans, documentation, and job aids for key functions and processes performed 
  • Align resources to accomplish key objectives; convey and assign clear accountability for important objectives, deadlines, and expectations.
  • Make decisions as needed and build consensus as appropriate
  • Actively participate in the success of cross-organizational programs and initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc strategic projects as needed 
  • Hold self and others accountable to meet commitments.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required or the equivalent combination of training and experience, plus 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous relevant experience within health care preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including previous experience in strategy corporate strategy, and primary and secondary market research

Skills/Abilities/Competencies: 

  • Excellent critical thinking, project management, analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of key business drivers, strategic frameworks, and strategy development and ability to identify, structure, and solve business problems
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills with proven ability to apply foundational strategy principles to a variety of business problems
  • Experience working with market intelligence and strategy partners in consumer and B-to-B environments.
  • Familiar with statistical capabilities for appropriate analysis of research results, including key driver analysis (such as correlations, various multivariate analysis), factor analysis, conjoint, and segmentation
  • Ability to work independently and manage results.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex data, prepare and present reports and conduct market research.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the health care industry, including employer-sponsored, Medicaid, Medicare and Individual lines of business.
  • Strong market research project management, organization and implementation skills
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels preferred
