Job Summary

The Role of the Senior Accountant will perform a variety of tasks all aimed at focusing on general ledger accounting transactions. This role will support the Accounting Manager in the month end close process as well as ad hoc projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex reconciliation and analysis for balance sheet accounts, including tracking and maintaining P/L and balance sheet activity.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and analyses, and track budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Manage and review large quantities of data in the general ledger, AP, and AR, resolving any accounting or reconciliation issues that arise.
  • Close financial books on a regular basis, such as weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually, to maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct weekly calls with stakeholders to review financials, provide analysis, and make recommendations for effective financial management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency, including creating and maintaining ad-hoc reporting and preparing cross-company monthly journals.
  • Analyze metric reporting for various operations and look for process improvements to enhance data flow and streamline processes, reducing labor hours spent on data collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis techniques by resolving missing or incomplete information and addressing inconsistencies or anomalies in complex research or data. Work with increasing independence, receiving guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • Performance Management: Set expectations, provide feedback, conduct evaluations, and implement improvement plans to boost productivity and engagement. Foster a positive work environment by addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting open communication. Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies on employment practices, workplace safety, equal opportunity, and diversity

Preferred Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a general ledger accountant
  • Microsoft applications such as Access, Power Point, Word, and Outlook
  • Power user of Excel, including pivot tables, database functions, macro creation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence tools is necessary
  • Visual Basic / VBA is a plus
  • SAP/BI is a plus
  • Experience using relational databases and database extraction tools desirable
  • People management experience is required.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of oral and written English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player with excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects, and the ability to easily adapt to last minute changes and requests
  • Able to shift tasks quickly as priorities change

Mathematical Skills:

  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Ability to dissect complex transactions to achieve the end goal of correcting entry errors
  • Strong analytical skills

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to shift and reprioritize tasks as needed
  • Excellent time management skills, able to meet deadlines

Other Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of GAAP Accounting
  • Able to perform month end close tasks as well as train and delegate tasks to meet deadlines
  • Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration in Excel
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
  • Natural tendency to initiate process improvements
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, be well organized, perform under stressful situations and communicate effectively

Education:

  • A BS/BA degree required in Accounting

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally must be able to lift 25 pounds.
