We are now recruiting for an Azure Data Engineer for a permanent role in our Dublin Office. 

JOB PURPOSE 

The Azure Data Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end design, creation and deployment of our data platform. They will work closely with the Data Engineer Team Lead and team to ensure new business requirements are delivered and existing solutions are monitored and supported. 

The appropriate candidate should have a true affinity for data with a pragmatic approach, constantly looking to reduce complexity and increase clarity and maintainability. Our focus in BI is to deliver business value rather then build complex technical solutions – The Azure Data Engineer is an integral part of this principle. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with the Delivery and Business Intelligence teams on business requirements output and project deliveries 
  • Design and build end to end data pipelines using modern Azure technologies 
  • Design and build APIs for data services 
  • Provide data to end users and the Business Intelligence team who use Power BI and API Apps while implementing appropriate scheduling and data governance 
  • Monitor ETL pipelines to ensure all processes are completed as expected 
  • Be a key member of team in identifying improvements to design of data platform 
  • Architect and document conceptual and logical data models into high level technical design while adhering to guiding principles 
  • Plan the design of data services by assessing sizing and configuration 
  • Assist and maintain Data Catalog and Lineage solution 
  • Work as a part of the team as point of contact to the business needs 
  • Azure data platform administrator responsibilities 
  • Manage access control and security of the data platform 
  • Support the documentation of the data objects and lineage in the data warehouse, the related business processes, and business use cases 
  • Determine the best way to support different user profiles such as data scientists or business end users 
  • Other tasks as required and directed by your line manager 

Skills & Experience 

  • Data Engineering knowledge 
  • A minimum of 5 years of Azure Data Engineering experience 
  • BI requirements / use cases 
  • Data Analysis 
  • Deep knowledge of Data Modelling principles 
  • Data Warehousing 
  • ETL/Pipelines and frameworks for batch and streaming 
  • Data management, data quality (E.g. DAMA / CDMP) 
  • Data Cataloging 
  • Advanced analytics and problem solving (data science, etc.) 
  • Technical documentation 
  • Familiarity with Power BI 
  • BI Architecture 
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with proven BI architecture patterns and best practices 
  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud solutions and Hybrid architectures 
  • Knowledge and (some) experience with architecture methodologies, frameworks and tools (TOGAF, Archimate, Enterprise Architect) 
  • Capable of balancing and adhering to guiding principles and being pragmatic 
  • Focused on high value, low complexity solutions 
  • Capable of balancing design between out of the box functionalities vs necessary customization 
  • Drives innovation and promotes improvements to increase solution efficiency (both tools & processes) 
  • Application development knowledge 
  • Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) 
  • DevOps 
  • Deployments, branching 
  • Coding standards / best practices 
  • Microsoft technical expertise (experience and certifications) of the latest and most important Microsoft BI technology, like: 
  • Databricks (Desirable) 
  • ADF 
  • Fabric 
  • Azure SQL (Desirable) 
  • Azure Data Lake (Desirable) 
  • Power BI Premium 
  • Power Platform 
  • Including hands on development experience 

Your Profile 

You are a highly motivated, delivery focused individual with superb interpersonal skills and a passion for excellence. You have a positive outlook, a can-do attitude and thrive on working in a multi-cultural team environment. 

You have relevant Microsoft certifications, such as DP-200 and DP-201 or DP-203. 

DA-100 or other related certifications/exams desirable. You should have 5+ years experience in Azure Data Engineering.
