An Environmental Health & Safety (HSE) intern plays a crucial role in ensuring workplace safety, health, and compliance with environmental regulations.

Key Deliverables:

  • Safety Training: Provide safety orientation training for new employees, emphasizing safe practices and the use of environmental safety equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs to ensure adherence to regulations and continuous improvement.
  • Learning and Performing: Spend time learning and performing tasks related to health, safety, and environmental coordination.
  • Knowledge Development: Develop a working understanding of local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Meeting Coordination: Schedule and prepare internal and external Health, Safety, and Environment meetings, including reports and presentations.
  • Spill Response: Standardize spill response equipment. Safety Perception Survey: Conduct safety perception surveys and follow up on related actions.
  • Assessments: Perform EHS assessments (e.g., PPE, hazard/risk assessments for new equipment/processes, safety walks).
  • Contractor Safety: Manage functions related to the Contractor Safety Program.

Job Profile:

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A relevant degree such as Bachelor’s or University Degree in Health, Industrial, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Science, or Management.

Skills:

  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and corporate environments.
  • Knowledge of process flow, equipment, and machinery energy sources.

Experience:

  • Experience in conducting ergonomic assessments.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety programs and training.
