Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineering Directorate is responsible for the guidance, navigation, signal processing, target detection and tracking system functions of the electrical subsystems used in our products. This Electrical Engineer will develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including AMD, Intel, Microchip, and Lattice. Designs are implemented using VHDL and support the following type of applications: gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) Digital Signal Processing (DSP), control loops, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces. FPGA Design Engineers work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, select parts, architect the device, perform code development, simulation, and place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using both directed test and constrained random methodologies. Design support is expected from requirements definition through integration and test, and eventually production. Designs are documented and configuration managed throughout the entire design process.

This position is an onsite role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.
  • Experience with VHDL or Verilog coding.
  • Experience with one of the following FPGAs: AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Microchip/Microsemi. 
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
  • Experience with tool flows in Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus or Microchip Libero
  • Knowledge of C programming and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Interested in embedded systems design utilizing Microblaze, Nios, and ARM processors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
