Job Summary

We're seeking a passionate and experienced UX Researcher to join our team and drive human-centric design decisions. As a UX Researcher, you'll be responsible for conducting generative and evaluative research to understand user behavior, preferences, and needs, translating findings into actionable insights to enhance our product's usability and overall user experience. We’re a data-driven design shop, and we believe that a deep understanding of our users is the key to innovation and the cornerstone of our success. Your work will be at the heart of all we do, and you’ll be embedded in a team of exceptionally talented UX/UI Designers that crave insights only you can provide.

Responsibilities

  • Research Planning: Develop and execute research plans designed to, employing various methodologies such as structured interviews, surveys, diary and ethnographic studies, usability testing, and analytics to gather comprehensive user data.
  • User Interviews and Surveys: Collect qualitative data to uncover user pain points, preferences, and behaviors, ensuring a deep understanding of user needs and new opportunities for experiences that delight.
  • Evaluative Testing: Organize and conduct usability testing sessions to evaluate product features and interfaces, gathering actionable feedback for iterative improvements.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze qualitative and quantitative data gathered from research activities, derive meaningful insights, and present findings concisely to cross-functional teams to guide product decisions.
  • Persona and Journey Mapping: Develop user personas and journey maps based on research findings, enabling the team to empathize with users and design solutions that meet their needs effectively.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with designers, product managers, engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to advocate for human-centered design principles and ensure that research guides our prioritization and strategic roadmaps.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX research, contributing innovative ideas to enhance the overall user experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology, or related fields. Or, equivalent depth and breadth of experience in the field.
  • Proven experience (5 years or more) in UX research or a similar role within product development.
  • Proficiency in conducting various research methodologies and tools such as surveys, interviews, usability testing, and analytics, including a thorough and demonstrated knowledge of when and how to apply them as the needs of the project dictate.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience running multiple projects/assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into clear and actionable insights.
  • Keen understanding of both responsive web and native mobile app design, including research principles and best practices.
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills to advocate for the research process, effectively present findings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Demonstrated expertise with design thinking principles and empathy as a driver of innovation.
  • Track record of delivering research within an Agile framework.

Preferred: 

  • 7 years or more in UX research or a similar role within product and software development.
  • Experience with UX/UI design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma, especially with regards to prototyping for research purposes.
  • Experience in the unique requirements of UX research and design of Video experiences, both streaming and traditional cable.
  • Experience at growing and scaling a UX Research practice within an organization, leveraging both remote tools such as usertesting.com and in-person research. 
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization techniques.

Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in New York is $133,661.00 - $219,586.00 / year. The rates/ranges provided herein are the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and do not reflect future job opportunity.
