Job Description

The Cloud Architect performs the necessary analysis, technical design and build tasks related to the development of an enterprise’s cloud, hybrid cloud and containerization strategy. Provides technology solutions, direction and guidance for strategic projects/initiatives aligned with public and private cloud. Capable of both hands on and

direction setting. Responsible for evaluating, recommending, and developing relevant technology, tools and practices aligned with business strategy and priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Transformation Organization, plan, design and assist with cloud and containerization onboarding roadmap for cloud and on-premise environments
  • Participate in automation activities related to environment setup, configuration and deployment
  • Provision global solutions for multi region high availability, cloud failover and disaster recovery
  • Provision Kubernetes and cloud workloads
  • Drive agile methodologies as part of agile cloud pods
  • Perform research on emerging technologies that may impact the cloud and containerization strategies
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments, technology, and trends
  • Analyze the business drivers that determine key architecture requirements and solutions
  • Act as a subject matter expert to the organization for end-to-end architecture
  • Drive scope definition, requirements and technical design of applications onboarded to the cloud
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet technical requirements and expected business service levels
  • Provide support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations
  • Develop architecture documentation where applicable
  • Work with team to design the overall connectivity, compute, storage, subnets, availability zones
  • Work with infosec to validate the environment meets all global security and compliance controls
  • Work with product teams to define monitoring strategies, KPIs and alerts for cloud environment
  • Work with stakeholders to manage costs and capacity planning
  • Support root cause analysis of major incidents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Cloud and Containerization in large enterprise environments
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, tenancy, virtualization, containers, orchestration, elasticity, IaaS, PaaS, serverless, etc.)
  • Trained in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. Certification preferred
  • Experience in Agile framework
  • Extensive knowledge in platform development and management including Kubernetes (AKS, PKS etc.)
  • 2-5 years leading the delivery of complex enterprise application systems, distributed applications, web applications, architecture, and system integration solutions
  • 2-5 years administration experience including but not limited to diagnosis of performance issues, package management, load estimation, kernel tuning, networking configuration, etc.
  • 1-3 years experience in a large heavy-traffic environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytic skills
  • Ability to manage and execute scripting such as bash and python
  • Ability to work independently on large, complex projects with minimal guidance
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong influencing skills at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to create operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Effective leadership, scheduling, and management skills
  • Familiarity with process and efficiency enhancements
  • Excellent organization and management skills
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standard development methodologies and technologies
