Job DescriptionThe Business Intelligence Data Analyst will work with subject matter expects from all departments within Auxiliary Services and the Office of the Chief Operations Officer.

As a Business Intelligence Data Analyst, you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. Leveraging your analytical prowess and expertise in data visualization tools, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings effectively.

Your role will involve conducting in-depth analyses, designing, and maintaining dynamic dashboards and reports, and providing valuable recommendations to support business objectives. In doing so, you will empower stakeholders with the information needed to make informed decisions, optimize processes, and contribute to the overall success of Syracuse University.

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and or five to seven years of relevant work experience. Proficient with technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to lead in a team environment.
  • Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Data Analyst with a focus on Tableau and SSRS.
  • Strong proficiency in creating interactive and visually appealing dashboards.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and customizing reports.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data modeling within SQL and Oracle.

Job Specific Qualifications 

  • Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Data Analyst with a focus on Tableau and SSRS. Strong proficiency in creating interactive and visually appealing dashboards.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and customizing reports.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data modeling within SQL and Oracle.

Responsibilities 

  • Working with all Auxiliary Services Unit subject matter experts to identify deficiencies in existing reporting and data processing capabilities. Identifying potential technology improvements in systems, reporting and or data integrations to eliminate these deficiencies. Analyze complex datasets to extract meaningful insights, trends, and patterns. Interpret data findings and provide actionable recommendations to inform strategic decision-making. Communicate data findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Utilize Tableau/SSRS to design, develop, and maintain interactive and visually compelling dashboards and reports. Ensure accurate and timely delivery of information. Implement and adhere to best practices in data visualization, ensuring clarity and user-friendly reporting. Format and customize reports to enhance readability and usability and meet end-user requirements.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, process flows, and report documentation.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and advancements in the Business Intelligence field. Pursue continuous learning and professional development to enhance skills and expertise. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in Tableau and SSRS capabilities.
