Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) seeks a dynamic individual to lead its Department of Information Technology and Management beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding skills in leadership, teaching, and research, and will apply those skills to lead departmental strategic planning; support faculty growth; expand research programs; and promote an innovative educational experience for a diverse student body. Requirements include a terminal degree and the current academic rank of full professor (preferred) or associate professor with tenure; candidates with outstanding academic and research experience but who currently work in a non-academic environment in a position with substantial leadership experience are also encouraged to apply. A distinguished record of research (supported by a strong publication record and substantial external funding); excellent communication skills; and outstanding teaching experience are required. A solid grasp of technical knowledge as well as business application, a track record of leading major information technology projects to success in a diverse and inclusive setting, and integration of information technology in an enterprise environment is essential. The chair will also be appointed a faculty member in the department at a level and salary commensurate with experience.

The Department of Information Technology and Management is one of three departments within Illinois Tech’s College of Computing, and offers bachelor’s, master’s, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Information Technology and Management as well as B.S., M.S., and professional Master’s degrees in Applied Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. The Bachelor of Information Technology & Management degree is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org, and Illinois Tech has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Areas of study across the fields of information technology and applied cybersecurity are offered. The future vision for the department includes growth of research-focused education culminating in the offering of doctorates in Information Technology and Applied Cybersecurity. The Department of Information Technology and Management is currently a community of 250 undergraduate students, over 740 graduate students, 10 full-time faculty, and numerous visiting and adjunct faculty.
