You will be responsible for owning and driving large-scale customer-facing features from inception to delivery and beyond. Key job responsibilities

  • Drive the technical direction and architecture of large, complex software systems.
  • Work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders including Product Management, User Experience, internal technical teams, and leadership to define business opportunities and then drive end-to-end solutions and product roadmap.
  • Hire, coach, and mentor individuals; build a strong cross-functional organization.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership throughout product life cycles, influence software engineers best practices for your team, and own operational excellence of large scale production services.
  • Report on status of development, quality, and system performance to technical and business stakeholders

About the team

Amazon Kids helps you create a customized experience for your child by providing the most relevant books, videos, apps, and games.

Using Amazon Kids allows your child to read, watch, play, or listen with an experience designed for kids. Amazon Kids also gives parents some additional controls like:

  • Share content from your Amazon library and filter age-appropriate content.
  • Set screen time limits, educational goals, manage web browsing, and In-App purchases.
  • Gain access to child activity within their Amazon Kids profile from your Parent Dashboard.
  • Modify web browser behavior including access to preapproved websites and web videos.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
