HR Head of Strategy and Execution

The HR Head of Strategy & Execution will be a key partner and adviser to the CHRO and be responsible for managing the CHRO’s office, act as proxy and as responsible party for administrative tasks as well as driving strategy, projects and transformation within HR. They will partner closely with the HR Leadership Team in driving efficiency and governance oversight within the HR function as well as helping to deliver HR’s multiple disciplines to the organization in a well-defined and interconnected manner. The HR Head of Strategy & Execution will report into the COO of HR and also responsible for assigned top-of house Strategic Business Manager for Human Resources. The responsibilities will include partnering with Finance to help develop the budget and ensure that we operate within the budget while making appropriate trade-offs during the year. This role will partner with the HR Business Partner(s) for HR to help develop a robust culture and talent development roadmap for the function and will act as a liaison for the CHRO with other Corporate Staff functions (e.g., Communications, Finance, etc.). Will support the CHRO and COO to lead the function.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Partners with HRLT, COO and CHRO in such areas as investment prioritization, strategic change, operational issues, budgeting and finance, and leading action to ensure compliance with location strategies and expense discipline within HR
  • Assists CHRO in preparing for Board and EC meetings in partnership with assigned HRLT Member(s) 
  • Own HRLT meetings/agendas, and oversee execution of HRLT Offsites, Town Halls, ELT, etc.
  • Ownership of the HR Operating Budget with CHRO and COO including staff expense, vendor management and act as EC Designee approver for CHRO
  • Helps define overall strategy for HR in coordination with CHRO and HRLT, and tracks/reports strategic initiatives status to execution 
  • Serves as strategic advisor in goal setting activities in partnership with the HR Business Partner(s) for HR
  • Ensure key decisions progress on schedule, acting as a catalyst and partnering with other Corporate functions as needed (e.g., Finance, etc.) for the HR function
  • Responsible for the overall communication strategy and plan for HR function within HR partnering closely with Communications and Marketing designated HR Partners
  • Providing department leaders with recommendations and consultation to improve teamwork
  • Planning, coordinating and keeping contents of a meeting focused
  • Providing tactical support to implement ideas, ensure that work is integrated across teams and that the work product is high standards
  • Working with leadership to deliver, monitor and communicate progress towards goals
  • Responding to inquiries on behalf of the CHRO; preparing inter-department communications
  • Identifying and helping solve core problems or opportunities within business processes
  • Providing CHRO and other HR Leadership team members with insight and analysis on the function. Completing analysis across multiple domains (e.g. budget, workforce etc) and sharing with CHRO and leadership the key insights
  • Planning, coordinating and leading meetings and workshops
  • Leading/supporting key administrative tasks for the CHRO including approvals etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required; advanced/graduate degree preferred; MBA a plus
  • 15+ years of total work experience with at least 3-5 years in program/project management preferred
  • Strong communications and writing skills preferred
  • Experience working with an operating budget needed
  • Proficient MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred with experience with HCM (e.g., Oracle, Visier, Tableau, etc.) a plus
  • Proactive mindset and a relentless focus on performance excellence
  • Highly collaborative individual who can influence multiple internal partners to drive results in a matrixed environment
  • Extensive project management expertise and experience in transformation
  • Ability to balance extremely high attention to detail and accuracy with tight deadlines on critically meaningful work
  • Resilient, able to flex and pivot in a fast paced environment
  • Highly organized and practices efficient work habits
  • Proven decision making skills

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $282,500 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
