We are looking for:

A shift based Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Engineer for our Aerospace plant in Wrexham, UK,. As part of the GBU Composites Materials, Wrexham plays a crucial role in serving the aerospace business of the GBU.

We count on you for:

The EC & I Shift Engineer will work in a team-based environment and will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the through life management requirements for new and / or existing controls and Instrumentation assets are fully considered and implemented.
  • Supporting the engineering team in the field instrumentation and control domain including P&ID reviews, Selection Criteria, obsolescence management
  • Managing data backup
  • Supporting all PLC/Software issues across the Wrexham site
  • Lead the maintenance shift (not man management)
  • Troubleshooting of issues related to field instrumentation or industrial systems (diagnostics and proposition for solution/improvement)
  • Operate in accordance with Company HSE policies and SSoW procedures
  • Work within 3 shift pattern covering Monday to Friday with flexibility to change shifts when required (reasonable notice would be provided)
  • Work to maintenance schedules, carrying out planned preventative maintenance on a range of process and support equipment
  • React swiftly to process breakdowns to minimise downtime
  • Ensure root cause of equipment failure is always identified and appropriate preventative action implemented
  • Accurate and consistent completion of documentation and SAP data
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and in an orderly manner.

You will bring:

Knowledge/Expertise

  • Time served engineering apprenticeship.
  • Minimum ONC/HNC in Engineering (ideally both mechanical and electrical).
  • IEE 18th edition regulations.
  • COMPEX qualified (advantageous)
  • Basic Safety Related work based training
  • Work experience: min 5 years as field instrumentation and/or controls specialist in the chemical or manufacturing industry including maintenance or engineering/construction and start-up activities.
  • Knowledge in Industrial Systems (DCS, SLS and PLC) architecture
  • Knowledge of the following Industrial Systems products is an advantage:
  • Profibus / Profinet
  • PLC : Siemens 
  • Drives : Siemens / Eurotherm / 
  • Instrumentation : / E&H / VEGA / Eurotherm / Siemens
  • Knowledge of digital technologies (e.g. wireless) and IT (e.g. cloud computing and virtualization) is an advantage
