Overview

The Manager-Marketing Strategy & Communications is responsible for playing the lead role in the development of strategic marketing plans and have oversight of internal and external communications. The individual develops and implements communications and marketing initiatives that support the company's strategy. The individual is responsible for the development of staff and day-to-day supervision of assigned associates, ensuring that all communications, programs, and initiatives are implemented timely and with a consistent and coordinated message that supports the brand and meets goals and objectives. The manager is responsible for the successful, on time, on-target and on budget completion of all marketing campaigns and programs. They contribute new ideas and processes to the department and strive for continuous improvement of marketing services and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. An additional four (4) years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience in marketing and communications (in either an agency or corporate setting) with project management and marketing communications campaign development skills required. Business-to-business marketing experience preferred.
  • Two (2) years of progressive leadership/management responsibility required.
  • Demonstrated organizational and project planning skills required.
  • Exhibit initiative, creativity, and self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of general marketing communications principles, strategies, techniques, and resources.
  • Proficiency in competitor research and ability to develop a successful marketing communications strategy that sets PBD apart from competitors
  • Ability to assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of management.
  • Excellent leadership, communications (oral and written), analytical and presentation skills, ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization and external clients.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills to grow team members in their current role while promoting cross-functional skill sets.
  • Ability to continually enhance the communication style within PBD so that all deliverables (internal and external) have the appropriate flow and singular voice that is tailored to the audience.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the company’s evolving product offerings, programs, and marketing strategies.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership
  • Manage assigned associates, overseeing day-to activities and ensuring programs and initiatives are implemented with a consistent and coordinated message that supports the brand and meets goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all software and publication tools used by assigned associates(s).
  • Responsible for staff development of assigned associates(s).
  • Marketing Programs
  • Create and oversee marketing communications programs for assigned lines of business, whether working with an advertising agency or in-house production staff. Work within established time frames and within approved budget.
  • Seek first to understand, interpret and critique concepts, large quantities of sometimes disparate information with the ability to present ideas in their simplest form.
  • Develop support materials to promote the value of Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions.
  • Supervise and manage projects, on occasion with advertising agencies and other outside vendors, including review and sign-off of all related pieces.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of effective strategic and persuasive marketing solutions.
  • Determine the work priorities for the team and oversee them through completion. Ultimate responsibility for timelines of work and quality of the end products.
  • Communications Oversight
  • Oversee internal and external communication processes.
  • Promote a consistent voice in messaging for RFPs and all other client deliverables.
  • Oversee all web postings and mass communication processes for appropriateness and consistency in our messaging to align with the PBD values and strategy. Responsible for ensuring deliverables are high quality and completed on time.
  • Ensure that client formularies are published timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for ensuring that any modifications needed for communications materials, including but not limited to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) compliance requirements, are completed timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the PBD “story” is told appropriately and aligns with the PBD strategic vision.
  • Strategic Planning
  • Work with Sr. Leadership, including Product Development, as appropriate for the development and implementation of marketing programs that meet strategic planning requirements, always considering a big picture perspective.
  • Responsible for identifying and understanding successful trends in marketing strategies and communications in the PBM industry and integrating into PBD’s strategy as appropriate and in line with our brand.
  • Actively lead in the development of strategic marketing plans to be reviewed and approved by Sr. Leadership as well as make recommendations for changes/updates relative to changing market conditions and company objectives.
  • Roadmap, implement, and oversee approved strategic marketing plans.
  • Budget Maintenance
  • Project potential budget impact of any campaigns, projects, and tools that are necessary to facilitate the PBD strategic vision as defined by Sr. Leadership. 
  • Regular budget reconciliation, including the global, printing, retail, corporate marketing, and communications budgets as appropriate.
  • Maintain and reconcile budgets for individual projects.
  • Miscellaneous
  • Strive for continuous improvement of marketing services, communication styles, and processes by providing input into the development of policies, procedures, objectives, and strategies.
  • Research and analyze data relevant to the marketing communications function to assist in the development of communications materials.
  • Continue to maintain knowledge of the PBM industry and marketing communications field.
  • Provide other communications and marketing support as necessary.
