Attention all digital storytellers: photographers, videographers, editors, and graphic artists! Do you enjoy working with digital technologies? Are you an organized, detail oriented, multi-tasker? Read on!

The New School’s Marketing and Communication (M&C) seeks a multifaceted Temporary Senior Editor for the Digital Content department. At Digital Content, we are responsible for coordinating, managing, and producing video and photography assets to promote the entire university. The editor will work under the supervision of the Digital Content Associate Director in the primary functions of organization, editing, and distribution of digital assets (video, photo, and audio), and assist in the management of different media properties.

This is a great opportunity for a well-organized and creative editor to work in a professional environment. You will work independently and collaboratively in connection to every aspect of brand stewardship with Digital Content and Digital engagement.. The Temporary Senior Editor will have the opportunity to work on creative projects in photo and video while acquiring in-demand real-world skills of digital asset management and production. This editor will help with editing short form narrative-storytelling pieces as well short form promotional social media videos for The New School.

The Senior Editors and the Digital Content Associate Director will work out a schedule that is conducive to both, but one that could be flexible for fewer or more hours depending on academic calendar and need. Applicants should anticipate working up to 1-50 hours per month. Applicants need to maintain a reasonable but dedicated schedule and preferably have the ability to commit to at least 1 year in the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level editing to higher marketing videos from start to completion.
  • Provide senior-level editing to documentary-style original content series led by the Digital Content team.
  • Lead edits for various video projects.
  • Provide notes and feedback on edits for lower-level projects led by Digital team members.
  • Manage and oversee all M&C staff with assembling and editing collections of photo and video assets for different projects.
  • Analyze and update color correcting and color grading for all final cuts and mixing dialogue, sound effects, and any composed music or stock music.
  • The editor will also search and source stock footage and stock music when necessary.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Work Mode: Hybrid

Salary Range

Payment is $60-70, commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level.

This is an hourly project based position. This is not a permanent position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Must have 10+ years of experience.
  • Must be an expert in Premier.
  • Must be an expert in After Effects.
  • Must be advanced in color correction, color grading, and audio editing.
  • Must have an advanced portfolio of edited work.
  • Flexible and capable multi-tasker.
  • Organized, precise, and detail-oriented.
  • Communicative, cooperative, curious to learn new things, and able to take direction.
  • A fast learner of creative software and online collaboration workflows.
  • Proficient in working on Macintosh computers.
  • Experience receiving assets from the camera and producing team.
  • Familiarity with digital storage devices and other relevant equipment.
  • Technical problem-solving ability.
  • Editors must be comfortable using Frame.io for delivery and notes for the various assembly and rough cuts.
  • Able to delegate and explain workflows to student workers operating as Assistants in the post-production process.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Adobe Audition and Photoshop.
  • Camera and sound mixing experience is a plus.
