The Senior Manager, Business Development is a critical role in the Merchandising Group at Zulily. The Business Development team is responsible for identifying and closing brand partnerships to meet key growth initiatives for zulily. The ideal candidate has strong sales experience, a solid background in retail, merchandising experience, strong project management skills, and is a proven leader.

This individual will manage a large team of account executives whose main focus is to partner with thousands of brands to provide the Zulily customer something new and fresh every day. He/she must be highly motivated and driven by achievement, execution and closure, along with being creative problem solver, highly organized, detail-oriented and passionate about business strategy in e-commerce and the retail space.

The role will prove challenging, demanding and fast-paced, requiring juggling numerous projects and responsibilities. To succeed, he/she must be energetic and eager to be a team player.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead a team responsible for sourcing, structuring and closing strategic deals focused on the right assortment and value to our customers by mentoring, coaching and developing.
  • Build strong relationships with the merchandising leadership team and cross functional teams to ensure key KPIs are met.
  • Create and implement key processes to streamline the sales cycle
  • Provide performance reporting on actual vs goal
  • Manage pipeline and revenue projections
  • Manage the database tool for each phase of a deal
  • Analyze new brand performance to identify gaps
  • Evaluate and approve all deals presented by the team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required, MBA preferred
  • 5-7 years in a leadership role required, preferably in retail with an eCommerce presence, including recruiting, coaching and developing a team.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience with CRM, preferred
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Exceptional prospecting, negotiation and closing skills
  • Experience building cross departmental relationships to drive results
  • Achievement-oriented, detail-oriented and results-driven.
  • Ability to successfully work in an ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up 25% of the time.
