Job Description:

Brown University Athletics is currently seeking candidates for the Senior Associate Director of Athletics – Facilities, Operations and Revenue Generation. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1). 

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Athletics and Recreation/COO, this role oversees the day-to-day administration and operation of all Brown Athletics facilities and events, manages capital projects on behalf of the Division, and oversees the revenue-generating units and staff. This position is the lead Athletics liaison to Brown University Facilities Management, Project Management, Grounds, Sustainability and Custodial Services.

Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of the daily administration and operation of all Athletics facilities, fields, and outdoor venues.
  • Oversight of event operations at all intercollegiate athletic competitions, including postseason events hosted by Brown University Athletics.
  • On behalf of the Division, manage major capital projects from conception to completion.
  • Oversee external rentals and other revenue generating initiatives.
  • Serve as the program administrator for select varsity sports and perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, required;
  • Seven (7) to 10 years’ experience in athletic administration, preferably with expertise in facilities, operations, and revenue generation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of building systems and building service contracts.
  • Prior experience with revenue generation relationships and strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software and other requisite programs.
  • Experience supervising and managing others.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong client service orientation; should be extremely customer focused on both internal and external customers and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be flexible with a high sense of accountability and responsibility.
  • Must have organizational skills and be excellent with details and follow-up and be able to manage multiple detailed tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently, be proactive and take initiative, including making difficult decisions with prioritizing program scheduling needs within divisional policies.
  • Willingness to be available on weekends or evenings when/if necessary.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to compliance with, NCAA, ECAC, Ivy and University rules and regulations in regard to operations.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.
