Who we are:

R&D Center US Culver City Laboratory (CCL) is a newly established branch office of Sony Corporation's Research & Development Center (RDC). We focus on providing engaging and unique technology to Sony Group's entertainment business segments, such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the various group companies that support their business.

CCL's primary role is application R&D. We develop software applications with innovative and unique core technologies while employing Human Center Design philosophy. We take the time to understand our customer through various research methodologies, identify core issues, and then define products that solve real problems. A quick loop of prototyping, user testing, and iterations form CCL’s culture.

Because our team is small, we often operate like a startup. We welcome an enthusiastic individual who is willing to wear multiple hats when necessary to get things done. A talented UX researcher with design skills will play an essential role in our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with UX lead to develop research and test plans which translate research goals into questions.
  • Recruit qualified participants, coordinate tests/research, transcribe interviews, synthesize data, conduct analysis, and generate reports.
  • Define user interaction and user interfaces through user-flows, information architecture, sketches, and wireframes.
  • Translate wireframes into sophisticated UI designs that appeal to target audiences
  • Create clickable prototypes
  • Create UI (user interface) style guides and UI kits as needed

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor or master’s degree in HCI (Human Computer Interaction), Design, Psychology, Human Factor
  • 5+ years of professional experience working in software application technology in a UX research and/or UX design role
  • A strong creative portfolio that demonstrates high-quality UX and UI work in both research and design
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including usability testing, expert interviewing, card sorting, journey mapping, surveying, and persona development.

  • Experience in B2B applications and platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills coupled with a high attention to detail.

  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to commute to our offices in Culver City, CA as needed at your cost
