The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our lateral recruitment team as Recruitment Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end recruitment of high quality candidates for positions within our Practice Groups and Business Services teams. This position could be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Our recruitment process is vital to the success of the firm and in this critical role you will be an ambassador for the firm and will promote our brand with candidates and external recruitment agencies alike. This interesting and varied role will allow you to work with hiring partners and managers across the firm nationally, and will involve you in enabling the business to achieve its key objectives.

As Recruitment Manager, your role will include but not limited to:

  • Manage recruitment processes through the entire lifecycle, including guiding hiring managers regarding appropriate sourcing channels (with a focus on sourcing candidates directly wherever possible), managing candidates through the process - ensuring their experience of HSF is excellent, working closely with HRBPs and Reward with offer/remuneration proposal, coaching candidates throughout the resignation process and offering support and working with HR Operations team to ensure a smooth onboarding process;
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including hiring managers, divisional HR Managers and Advisors, and the HR administration team;
  • Work with the divisional HRM team to analyse the genuine need to recruit by, for example, analysing utilisation rates of existing fee earners, or assessing numbers/ratios of support staff. Liaise with the Resourcing function and / or heads of practice as appropriate;
  • Manage relationships with key recruitment suppliers, including search firms and job boards, including contractual provisions and negotiation of the same;
  • Drive direct sourcing through the use of multiple recruitment channels, including LinkedIn Recruiter, developing market-specific expertise, enabling the firm to target passive candidates;
  • Monitor management information from the applicant tracking system regarding quality, speed and time-to-hire;
  • Document processes and drive efficiencies where possible, e.g. using Linkedin Recruiter, market research providers, etc.;
  • Partner with the in-house Diversity and Inclusion team regarding sourcing and selection methods;
  • Build and maintain local market knowledge regarding best-practice and publicly available information regarding competitor activity;
  • Participate in and contribute to national and global firm wide resourcing and recruitment projects;
  • Promote the firm’s brand and EVP with external recruitment agencies and candidates.

To be successful in this role, you will be degree qualified and will have:

  • At least 6-8 years' of experience in managing the entire recruitment lifecycle, likely gained through a combination of agency and in-house experience, ideally gained with leading firms in the legal or professional services sector, but we would welcome experience from other industries;
  • Strong internal client service focus, client relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Well organised, articulate, numerate and commercial;
  • Ability to build networks and rapport with people at all levels of the organisation and externally with peers and providers;
  • Able to demonstrate resilience whilst building strong relationships with a demanding client base;
  • Experience of working collaboratively and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Experience in dealing with ambiguity and adapting to changing circumstances;
  • Comfortable operating autonomously on an agreed plan;
  • Experience working as part of a global function, balancing consistency of approach and delivering against local needs;
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities;
  • Advanced user of Linkedin Recruiter preferred.
