Job Summary: 

As an Aerospace Engineer you will support the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and is responsible for the creation of

quality repair solutions in a timely manner from a Design point of view. Duties include performing design efforts for both metallic

and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with static stress and fatigue colleagues to provide repair solutions.

Methods include the use of multiple applications to research aircraft configurations and develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy

airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MROs).

Located on the Wichita State University (WSU) innovation campus is Airbus’ first dedicated engineering facility outside of Europe.

Your challenges:

  • Using mathematics, scientific, and engineering principles to design, repair, and improve aircraft, component parts, facilities, materials, safety regulations, and manufacturing processes.
  • Create specifications for testing aircraft, including benchmarks for durability, reliability, and overall performance
  • Developing safety and quality standards, budgets, and timelines and ensuring projects comply with these regulations.
  • Determine whether specific materials and products meet these standards
  • Identify why damaged and underperforming designs fail, and suggest solutions and alternative designs to address these problems
  • Analyze the aerodynamic performance of aircraft ensure quality and identify areas for improvement
  • Coordinating activities with production, research, testing, and other departments to optimize safety and efficiency.
  • Writing design proposals, reports, manuals, and other technical documents.

Your boarding pass:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical) or aircraft construction engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in design and /or repair of metallic and/or composite aircraft structures.
  • Engineering experience in an airline/OEM/MRO environment preferred, with knowledge of aircraft. structure(design, fatigue, materials)and structural repairs, or mechanical.
  • Knowledge of aircraft electrical, mechanical system and cabin installation design.
  • Knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods.
