The Program Assistant assists the NCS with the administration of the Pack Internship Grant Program, a grant-funded internship program for UNR undergraduates. The Pack Internship Grant Program (in partnership with ASUN) seeks to provide undergraduate students with paid, substantive internship opportunities with non-profit organizations, public agencies, and start-up companies. This position offers significant opportunity to engage with community employers as well as students and faculty on campus, and is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in career services, program development, and/or community outreach.

Note: Priority will be given to applications received by November 3, 2023. This is not a graduate assistantship, but only graduate students are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with application process, to include position posting on Handshake and promotion
  • Coordinates communication between university and internship site supervisors as well as interns
  • Gathers and maintains database of program documentation received, from legal documentation to intern assignments
  • Prepares invoices for accounting department, ensures funds are distributed and received
  • Answers questions and provides correspondence throughout internship timeline
  • May conduct pre-internship site visits, mid-internship site visits
  • Coordinates final poster reception

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled as a graduate student in a degree program at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Candidate must be highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Candidate must demonstrate commitment to confidentiality.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have ability and willingness to collect and organize data as well as learn and work with new software and web applications (demonstrated tech-savvy preferred)
  • Candidate must have professional communication and customer service skills as they will be communicating frequently with community employers, students, and faculty

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate has strong presentation skills
  • Candidate has strong writing skills
  • Candidate has some knowledge of, or experience with program implementation and/or event organization
  • Candidate has a Graduation date of May 2025 or later

Schedule

Expected hours to work per week: 10

Hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Office hours are to be worked in the NCS (or remotely due to COVID-19).

This position is available immediately and commits to working through Winter Break and Wintermester 2023.
