Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE:

Interns assist the company with tasks set out by various teams, such as research, data capturing and working closely with different team members to learn more about the company.

CareFirst runs a year-round internship program. The ideal candidate is someone who can commit to work throughout the year part-time up to 15-20 hours in the Spring/Fall AND Full-time or Part-time 20-40 hours in the Summer.

This internship position resides within the Specialty Business Unit at CareFirst where you will be an integral member of the team. This team is responsible CareFirsts Specialty Business lines, including Dental, Vision, Stop Loss, Wellbeing, and Pharmacy. This position will assist in bringing all CareFirst product lines together to drive our Wellbeing strategy and position in the market.

This position may include the following duties:

  • Understand the full continuum of wellbeing products and service in-depth
  • Gather and analyze clinical data related to high-cost claimants and utilization pattens driving cost trends
  • Create PowerPoint presentations
  • Support day to day operational process and identify streamline opportunities
  • Work under Clinical Advisors and Wellbeing Consultants to learn and lead strategies and go to market solutions
  • Represent CareFirst at client meetings and wellness events (as appropriate and available)

Qualifications:

  • Must be a rising junior or senior undergrad or graduate student enrolled in an accredited College or University working towards a bachelors or graduate level degree
  • Target Majors: Healthcare Promotion, Healthcare Management, Health Education/Promotion and/or related studies
  • GPA: 3.25 or above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and the Internet

Salary Range: $18,720 - $26,000
