What we can offer you

Position Summary

This Internship will work on data engineering, data science, and data analytics for our IoT Digital Platform. This includes model building, model deployment, and building reports/visualizations for the Digital Command Center. As a member of our Digital Business team, you will work collaboratively across all lines of business and product lines to develop and deploy analytics tools designed to draw insights and create value that drives action.

We are looking for motivated student(s) with excellent leadership skills and the ability to develop, automate, and run analytical models of our IoT data systems. Applicants will have strong modeling and visualization skills and be comfortable owning their own data, working from concept to execution. The role will also build tools and support structures needed to analyze data, resolve system errors in data, and present findings to leadership.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

Advanced Analytics, Reporting & Data Visualizations

  1. Deep dive analysis into Evoqua’s vast data to uncover business opportunity or solve existing problems.
  2. Build key data sets / pipelines to empower operational and exploratory analysis
  3. Write scripts to integrate data, conduct exploratory data analysis, apply machine learning to train predictive models where appropriate
  4. Utilize detailed analysis, personal interviews, and mining of digital product data to propose root cause and corrective actions to the business and develop visual tools (Power BI etc.) which are capable of ‘telling the whole story’.
  5. Evaluate and define product and business metrics
  6. Democratize data by building and socializing decision tools (dashboards, reports)

Position Requirements

  1. EDUCATION: Student working toward Masters/Bachelor of Science degree with Major in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, or related analytical discipline
  2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  3. Required:
  4. 2+ years with the ability to write and mentor code development in Python and/or SQL
  5. 2+ years with Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) methodologies
  6. 1+ years with Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
  7. 1+ years with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or equivalent
  8. Ability to think outside the box to uncover business value
  9. Ability to think and execute at multiple levels from strategy and vision to execution
  10. Interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and communicate technical content to general audiences (telling a “story” with data)
  11. Experience with building machine learning models
  12. Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and procedures within data analytics & science
  13. Strong prioritization, quantitative and analytical skills

Additional Details

Required:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of concepts and procedures within data analytics & science
  • Strong prioritization, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Experience with IoT (sensors/connected technologies) is a plus
  • Experience with building data pipelines is a plus
  • Knowledge of data mining, machine learning, data visualizations and statistical modeling
  • Experience with Data Analytics Tools, Data Warehouse tools or Dashboard creation tools such as Power BI, SAP Business Intelligence etc

Preferred:

  • Experience with Data Analytics Tools, Data Warehouse tools or Dashboard creation tools such as Power BI, Python, Azure/AWS;
  • Work independently when necessary
  • Enthusiastic & highly motived
  • Oral communication skills to interact with staff, colleagues and external third parties
