Job Summary:

Out Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer Internship offers a variety of hands-on experience, depending on your area of interest and experience. You will be joining the core development team to work on developing/maintaining core algorithms in steering/automated agricultural vehicles. Using MATLAB/Simulink or ROS/C/C++, you will model, develop and maintain the algorithms to analyze and tweak vehicle performances while integrating functionality into a releasable product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, development and productization state estimation algorithms
  • Work with Matlab/Simulink and model-based design (MBD)
  • Utilizing your experience with sensor fusion and filter design (e.g UKF, EKF) for odometry/pose estimation
  • Develop, characterize and validate non-linear vehicle dynamics plant models
  • Deploy and profile algorithm performance on real-time hardware/operating systems
  • Define system/software architecture 
  • Foster ongoing testing and testability in building quality products 

Recommended Skills & Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, robotics or other related field
  • State estimation development experience for dynamic physical systems (e.g. ground vehicles)
  • Proficient with Matlab & Simulink and/or C++ & ROS ecosystem
  • Familiar with ROS and/or C/C++ programming languages and compilation process
  • Extensive experience with test, verification, validation and productization of algorithms
  • Experience with requirements decomposition and management tools
  • Experience leading small technical project and project management 

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Practical estimation experience, specifically in the Agriculture industry, including on ground experience with Tractors, Combines, Harvesters, etc
  • Proficiency in production-grade C/C++ software development
  • HIL and SIL testing
  • Simulink auto-code generation
  • GNSS+IMU based navigation
  • Autonomous/Semi-autonomous vehicle control
  • Experience with Systems Identification, SimMechanics, Simscape and Robotics Toolboxes
  • Safety-critical software development and certification
  • Missile, ship, submarine, or autonomous vehicle guidance, navigation & control background

Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
