A Day in the Life

Medtronic is currently searching for a Principal Process Engineer to join our growing team. In this exciting role in the Billerica facility, you will have responsibility for supporting the manufacturing of high-quality and complex catheters to support the Cardiac Ablation Solutions Business. 

As the Principal Process Engineer, you will:

  • Provide technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
  • Recommend and implement equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.
  • Integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.
  • Review product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
  • Interact with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Lead the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
  • This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Create, manage, and lead projects as assigned.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required with a minimum of 7 years of process engineering experience OR advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years process engineering experience

Nice-to-Haves 

  • 5 years of medical device experience 
  • Fixture and tooling experience
  • Experience leading complex projects
  • Start up experience 
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) experience
  • IQ, OQ, and PQ experience
  • Validation/Test Method Validation experience
