Position: Business Intelligence and Data Engineer (2nd level support)

Reports to: Service Delivery Manager Business Intelligence and Data - Technology

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Nature and aim of the position

The successful candidate will work in the Global Blue Technology - I&O - L2 SDM Data and Business Intelligence team as an Engineer Data and BI Support focused on supporting, monitoring and managing systems, applications and data base services for Global Blue (GB) Technology.

This role is based in Kuala Lumpur but will require close collaboration with the Data Business Intelligence team in Vienna and APAC.

The candidate must have a strong service ethic and good communication skills, as the role is client facing dealing directly with employees (B2E) and business partners (B2B).

Reporting and collaboration

The holder of the position reports directly to the Service Delivery Manager Data and BI

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Provide 1st/2nd level support activities for Enterprise DWH GB Technology Data and BI systems following ITIL processes
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including timely and frequent updates on the status of the tickets and major incidents to requesters and stakeholders
  • Ensure correct and timely ticket handling to meet all internal and external SLA and OLA terms
  • Ensure diagnostic, classification, fault isolation of incidents, and assess priority and severity
  • Analysis, investigation of the complex data and BI related incidents, e.g. data quality and completeness issues by using SQL, MicroStrategy, Tableau.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of incidents following incident management process, including escalation to 3rd level and 3rd parties to ensure the fast restoration of services
  • Identify, select, implement, configure, and maintain monitoring and alarming systems (MicroStrategy, Splunk, SQL using SSIS packages)
  • Maintain and update the knowledge base articles for employees and engineers
  • Trigger and update problem management by correlating incidents and identifying patterns
  • Shift work (day and/or late evenings; weekdays) on request is expected.

Profile and education

  • IT education or practical experience of at least 3 years in Data-focussed organization/department
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
  • excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • independent, goal-oriented, and self-motivating personality.
  • Excellent understanding of the SQL
  • Solid understanding of business data analytics and instigation (using MicroStrategy and Tableau)

Specific skills and knowledge

  • minimum 2 years of practical experience supporting and working with MS SQL and BI systems.

Mandatory Technical skills

  • Sound knowledge of BI tools: MicroStrategy/Tableau – administrator level
  • Microsoft Windows Server administration
  • MS SQL Server (extensive experience as data SQL proficiency, SSIS packages)
  • Experience with relational DB
  • Shell scripting; PowerShell, Python (basics)

Optional technical skills

  • DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools
  • Splunk experience
  • Experience with non-relational DB (e.g. MongoDB)
  • Administrating API clients (e.g. Google API)

Languages proficiency

  • English fluent (corporate language)
  • other languages are a bonus
