Job Description

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must hold a valid Nebraska food handlers certification or be able to attain within 30 days of employment. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision. Excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position requires the ability to lift and/or move more than 30 pounds. Must be able to walk frequently, including stairs.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a community center with light to moderate traffic and noise levels. Must be able to work in a variety of environments including but not limited to darkened rooms, around crowds, loud noises, small spaces, and/or flashing lights.

Job Summary/Primary Purpose: Provide support and assistance to Events functions at the Kroc Center, acting as the primary client liaison. Work with clients and Kroc staff to assure successful events that exceed expectations and provide a superior guest experience. Assist with all aspects of event prep, execution, and completion. Assist Community Engagement Director with client contact, proposals, contract development, Banquet Event Order (BEO) creation, and other administrative duties. Point of contact for external caterers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) at the beginning of each shift to ensure room(s) are set as contracted. Confirm and assist in set-up as needed.
  2. Enthusiastically greet and direct clients and guests.
  3. Work with client to ensure all requests are met.
  4. Organize, book, and provide assistance for birthday parties.
  5. Creatively resolve issues/complaints and involve management as needed, following established policies and procedures as appropriate.
  6. Help with set-up and clean-up for both internal and external events.
  7. Maintain all equipment and facilities in an organized, clean, and safe environment
  8. Complete administrative tasks and special projects, adhering to deadlines, as assigned by the Community Engagement Director.
  9. Consistently provide clear communication to other departments as needed.
  10. Demonstrate a high level of responsiveness for both internal and external customers and provide exceptional client service.
  11. Make or arrange for last minute adjustments in room or equipment set-up, following Kroc Center policies and communicating to appropriate staff as necessary.
  12. Consistently provide accurate updates and feedback to management.
  13. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
  14. Interact professionally in all contact, as required, with the public, business community, and Salvation Army Officers and staff.
  15. Attend all required department and facility meetings and training as assigned.
  16. All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred and 1 year or more of experience in guest services or related experience preferred.
