Our Tax department counts in Belgium about 500 employees who render advice in :

  • Business/Corporate Tax
  • Individual Income Tax
  • Indirect Tax (VAT, customs and excises)
  • International Tax and Transfer Pricing
  • Transaction Tax 

Within EY’s International Tax Services (ITS) group, we support our multinational clients (inbound and outbound) in achieving their operational goals in a tax effective manner. Through our international network of ITS colleagues across the globe, our support covers international tax matters in all countries needed. In the fast changing international (tax) landscape, we use our expertise to ensure that our client’s legal structure and operation model are continuously structure in a tax effective manner, working closely together with Belgian and/or foreign colleagues from other (sub) services lines (transfer pricing, advisory, etc). 

We are currently seeking candidates for a career opportunity as Senior Manager in our ITS group.

Tasks & responsibilities

As a senior manager in the International Tax department, you understand client’s and market’s needs in order to identify and commercialize suitable solutions and ensure a proper implementation by the department. Your main responsibilities as senior manager are: 

  • Write complex tax advices for international clients with cross-border taxation matters and drive and deliver successfully technical complex assignments. 
  • Conceptualize opinions on tax matters and check them with the responsible partner.
  • Have autonomous contacts with and participate in the negotiations with the tax authorities.
  • Being responsible for projects and transactions and implement complex fiscal work procedures.
  • Bearing the responsibility of technical advice that has been given to the client and oversee and coordinate tax positions taken in his client and team portfolio. 
  • Having an in depth understanding of the Belgian income tax aspects relevant in an international context (treaties, WHT, FTC, PE, MAP, EU Directives, ..) and being a subject matter specialist.
  • Establish and maintain long-term collaborative and profitable relationships with existing clients and acquire new clients.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with other sub-service lines and build up cross-selling agreements with other service lines or external partners. 
  • Actively point out improvement possibilities to raise effectiveness and efficiency of the work processes.
  • Staying up to date on all relevant changes in the international tax landscape and actively share this knowledge in order to support the continuous development of your colleagues. 

People responsibilities

  • Organizing your team in such a way that processes, roles & responsibilities are clear and work is efficiently and equally divided amongst colleagues.
  • Coach and stimulate more junior profiles in view of the right achievements and personal development and provide more senior executives with inputs in order to properly proceed to the performance review of counselees.

We are looking for candidates with the following background:

  • Master’s degree in law or economics potentially with a supplementary degree in fiscal matters
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in national and international corporate Tax matters 
  • Market and client focused
  • Team player with sound communication skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Good knowledge of Dutch, English and French.
