Title: Senior Manager Software Development

The Oracle Cerner Database Infrastructure team within OHAI is actively seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, the primary focus is on managing the team's dedication to database automation and overseeing the design, development, and implementation of reports and dashboards to meet business requirements, enhancing data visualization capabilities. As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for owning the team's vision and leading the execution of design and development activities for major components of Oracle’s Health and AI Database platform. This includes playing a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the team's efforts in database automation and contributing to Oracle's Health and AI DB Modernization initiatives. You will also lead software development efforts for OHAI Database Service team, closely collaborating with Database Administrators to address complex issues, develop new software programs for the database fleet, and automate repetitive tasks within the Database fleet. Furthermore, you will actively participate in DevOps and Cloud automation efforts for the Database fleet, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency improvements. Additionally, close collaboration with the Database team will help identify areas where automation is needed to enhance monitoring, efficiency, and overall performance of the Database fleet, aligning with the broader goals of Oracle’s Health and AI initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree (Information Technology/Mathematics/Computer Science/Computer Software/Electronics/Operational Research/Computer System Engineering).
  • Experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
  • Experience in managing Database Automation projects.
  • Strong understanding of Database Concepts and Linux systems.
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Shell.
  • Experience in SQL/PLSQL.
  • Experience using distributed source code management systems such as Git.
  • Proficiency in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices and methodologies.
  • Experience in software engineering practice and IT operations tasks. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience in Oracle Cloud infrastructure services and Concepts. 
  • Proven experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), demonstrating expertise in maintaining and improving the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of systems through a combination of software development and systems engineering practices.
  • Experience in Design, develop, and implement reports and dashboards to meet business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with several of the following technologies: Puppet, Chef, Helm, Terraform, Infrastructure-as-a Service, CI/CD.
  • Experience in Design, develop, and implement reports and dashboards to meet business requirements.
  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Experience using ticket tracking systems such as JIRA Experience working with geographically distributed teams. 
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices

As a Senior Manager Software Development, you will be instrumental in achieving our mission to enhance healthcare services. Your key responsibilities include:

  • The role will be responsible for managing a team of 6+ Software engineers with a variety of skill sets and experience levels.
  • The role will be responsible for coordinating with our product teams on work and priority to ensure the team has a concise vision and set of goals prepared.
  • The role will be responsible for ensuring the team meets key metrics, establishes milestones, and manages and achieves commitments.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of database automation requisites. 
  • Develop scripts, tools, and apps for automating database tasks like provisioning, monitoring, and backup, Database Alarms, etc.
  • Work closely with Database Administrators to gather insights and requirements, translating them into efficient and robust automation workflows.
  • Contribute substantively to the documentation of automation workflows, scripts, and processes, enabling seamless knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to database automation and DevOps.
  • Adhere to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Contribute to roadmap project by identifying areas of need from the DBA teams and engaging with stakeholders to scope work and identify timelines.
  • Design, development, and implementation of reports and dashboards to meet business requirements and enhance data visualization capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple teams, actively participating in the execution of roadmap projects.
  • Contribute to the growth of the team by mentoring new associates, and facilitating knowledge transfer and team development.
