The SAP Application Developer will focus on designing, building, and maintaining applications within the SAP ecosystem. The SAP Application Developer will have a strong understanding of SAP modules, as well as experience with ABAP. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Application Development:

  • Design, implement, document and support innovative solutions in the SAP ERP environment
  • Develop and maintain SAP applications using SAP ABAP and other related technologies
  • Analyze end-to-end business processes and awareness of the impact on business and ecosystem (focus on SAP modules SD/MM/PP).
  • Create and modify SAP programs, including custom reports, interfaces, enhancements, and print forms
  • Implement requirements in a team and/or manage external consulting companies during implementation.
  • Work with functional teams to design and implement technical solutions for business processes.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, care, optimization and further development of existing programs and systems within the framework of incident, problem and change management.
  • Manage the interfaces to other systems using SAP PI.

Technical Analysis and Design:

  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Design robust, scalable, and optimized technical solutions within the SAP landscape.

Testing:

  • Conduct unit testing and support integration and regression testing.
  • Work with the QA team to ensure that the developed solutions meet quality standards and functional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications to resolve issues.

Performance Tuning:

  • Optimize SAP applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency of ABAP code.

Maintenance and Support:

  • Provide technical support for SAP systems, including after-hours on-call support as needed.
  • Assist in SAP upgrades, patches, and other maintenance activities.

Documentation:

  • Document all technical designs, changes, and enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for software code and ensure all code is version controlled.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other developers, business analysts, and SAP consultants to ensure cohesive integration of systems.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and share knowledge with the team.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in SAP ABAP development, or a related area.
  • Solid understanding of SAP systems and business process functionality.
  • Proficiency in ABAP programming, including ABAP Objects, BAPI, ALV, SAPScripts, SmartForms, Adobe Forms, IDOCs and Web services/ ABAP Proxies.
  • Knowledge of SAP data dictionary and database tables.
  • Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting in an SAP environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient technically and capable of working independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP certification in ABAP Development or related areas.
  • Experience with newer SAP technologies like SAP S/4, SAP HANA, SAP Fiori and OData Services is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with other programming languages and frameworks used in conjunction with SAP (e.g., Java, SAPUI5, JavaScript).
  • Experience in full lifecycle SAP implementations.
  • Proactive in suggesting SAP improvements and enhancements.
