Qualcomm seeks an experienced and visionary Senior Staff Enterprise Data Architect to play a pivotal role in defining and executing our data architecture strategy. This position is crucial for ensuring that our data infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimally aligned with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data architecture principles, data modeling, and the integration of emerging technologies into a cohesive data ecosystem that supports innovation, operational excellence, and strategic insights.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of Qualcomm’s enterprise data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology capabilities.
  • Design and manage robust, scalable data models and architectures to support the evolving needs of the business, focusing on efficiency, quality, and security.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs, identify gaps in our current architecture, and propose solutions that enhance data accessibility, reliability, and scalability.
  • Guide the selection and integration of advanced data management tools and technologies (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses, ETL tools) to build a state-of-the-art data ecosystem.
  • Define and implement data governance and quality standards, processes, and frameworks to ensure data integrity, compliance, and security across the enterprise.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data architecture, recommending innovative solutions that can provide Qualcomm with a competitive edge.
  • Mentor and lead teams of data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of Qualcomm’s data architectures, systems, and processes for internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data strategy roles, with a proven track record of leading large-scale data architecture initiatives.
  • Expertise in a broad range of data management technologies and platforms (e.g., SQL/NoSQL databases, Hadoop, Spark, cloud-based data solutions like AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Proficient in data modeling tools and methodologies, with a strong understanding of both structured and unstructured data environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with data governance, data quality management, and data security practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building consensus across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications or advanced training in data architecture, data engineering, or related fields.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification
  • AWS Data Engineer Associate Certification
  • AWS Machine Learning Specialty Certification
  • ArchiMate 3 Practitioner Certification
  • Experience with machine learning models and AI-driven analytics.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific data standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) that impact data architecture and governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in data architecture and management.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field is required.
  • A Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields is strongly preferred.

Pay range:

$154,000.00 - $231,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus). In addition, our highly competitive benefits package is designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play.
