What is the opportunity?

Management of the Global Rates Flow Volatility Trading teams in New York and London. To develop the trading capabilities, profitability and profile of this group within RBC, with primary focus on the vanilla interest rate options side of the business. To price, trade and risk manage structured rates derivative exposure in USD and CAD in New York and GBP and EUR in London.

What will you do?

  • Lead and manage the Rates Flow Volatility Trading teams in New York and London - 3 traders in New York and 2 traders in London.
  • Overview the group's risk taking decisions and monitor actively risk profile of all exposure attributed to the global structured interest rate derivatives group
  • Develop and increase profitability of structured interest rate group
  • Price structured Fixed income derivatives on behalf of customer base, internal business centers and the wholesale market
  • Service client and marketer requests and service all pricing and trading requirements
  • Collaborate with local and global sales and trading teams in achieving firm’s goals
  • Communicate risk positions to the global head of Structured Rates Trading
  • Mandated Products are currently Caps & Floors, Swaptions, Bond Options, Bond Forwards, and T-locks.
  • Agree end of day profitability and risk positions with middle office
  • Participate in the risk management of the relevant structured Interest rate portfolios
  • Generate trade ideas for customers
  • Keep up to date with the latest macro and product developments in the market
  • Work with our Quant teams to constantly improve and enhance our models and tooling
  • Work with our IT Dev teams to help streamline our infrastructure and processes
  • Trading within limit structure set by management
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly
  • Ensure that employees understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviours that contribute to RBC goals.
  • Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development and rewarding strong performance.
  • Leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve a cross enterprise mindset.
  • Accept and successfully execute change while supporting employees through the process, and keeping them focused on business priorities.
  • Review new and updated Firm Policies applicable to your business and communicate such Firm Policies to employees for whom you have supervisory responsibilities.
  • In carrying out your supervisory responsibilities, review for indications of non-compliance with Firm Polices, notify the appropriate risk and control areas of such indications, and work with the relevant risk and control areas to remediate issues on a timely basis
  • Identify, assess and manage operational risks/control deficiencies in the business

What do you need to succeed?

  • BA, MBA, MA or MS or equivalent with emphasis in Finance, Math, or a similar field
  • FINRA Securities Licenses a must - Series 7, 63, 24
  • Solid understanding of Fixed Income Products
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and a good team player
  • More than 15 years experience in IR vanilla options and exotics trading
  • In depth knowledge of the current products traded in the market and how to price them
  • A high degree of mathematical ability and ability to price complex structures.

The good-faith expected salary for the above position is $300,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
