Your Impact: 

Food Network Magazine and HGTV Magazine is looking for an Assistant Editor to join our dynamic team. This person must be organized, professional and creative—and maintain a strong attention to detail. The position includes editorial work such as generating story ideas, researching, writing and editing, as well as administrative tasks. Our ideal candidate has a passion for food and food media and experience with both editorial and administrative duties.

What You’ll Do:

  • Generate story ideas for front of book and other sections of the magazine
  • Pitch, write and source products and photos for the Food News column; edit Table of Contents and Star Index
  • Research and write features and quizzes 
  • Assist on shoots as necessary
  • Attend relevant events and maintain food industry and book publishing press contacts
  • Produce PowerPoint presentations on deadline
  • Manage calendar, meetings and appointments for the Editor-in-Chief
  • Generate trend and news reports
  • Coordinate staff events

Who You Are:

  • Detail-oriented, creative, energetic and a team player 
  • Passionate about food and food media
  • Have 1—2 years of editorial experience, ideally in print and with a consumer-facing brand. 
  • The salary for this role is $60,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
