Salesforce is seeking an entrepreneurial product & engineering leader for the VP & GM, Data & Analytics Platforms role in our Marketing Technology organization. This leader will be responsible for driving the transformation of our data platforms, data pipelines, and marketing analytics platforms to enable Salesforce Marketing to effectively optimize $XB in marketing and sales spend per year.

This role will manage a globally integrated team of product management, engineering, data, and operations experts required to build and run data, AI, and analytics platforms and operations at scale. They will have accountability for budget, team management, product delivery, and operations.

In Marketing Technology, we act as an innovation lab to deploy Salesforce and partner technology for our business needs, build new functionality to meet Salesforce use cases, and share back code and insights to accelerate the development of the Salesforce platform for our customers. This role will be accountable for successful delivery of data platforms and processes on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Snowflake with integration into Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Data Cloud, and a suite of partner and proprietary software applications and services.

The VP & GM, Data & Analytics Platforms will report to the SVP & GM, Marketing Technology and contribute to the wider data, AI, and automation community at Salesforce. This leader will be accountable for creating an inspiring performance culture that helps everyone do the best work of their careers.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the build out of our data and analytics platforms to power self-service analytics and enhanced decision making for Salesforce marketing. This includes the deployment of the modern data stack on Snowflake + DBT + Airflow, CI/CD processes for managing data pipelines, our instrumentation and digital analytics platforms, our digital channel analytics, and our data and AI infrastructure critical for analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and operations.
  • Rapidly scale the volume of trusted data sets and pipelines across all marketing and customer sources including our pipeline and ACV data, account data, campaign data, paid media data, web data, email data, chat data, events data, partner data, and many more sources of data critical to marketing and GTM effectiveness.
  • Own and manage a large suite of marketing technology vendors and platforms, including technology from acquired companies, with an integrated strategy to harmonize, standardize, and drive a thoughtful roadmap to maximize business value and minimize long term operational cost and risk to the business.
  • Build and manage robust product development, engineering, data, and operational practices to ensure continuous improvement in product delivery, platform operations, and data operations.
  • Manage an integrated organization of more than 100+ FTEs including performance management, promotions and talent development, recruitment, compensation planning, training, and commitment to overall employee success in line with Salesforce standards and processes.
  • Manage a suite of vendors and consultancies to deliver products and programs including budget management, program management, and procurement of new partners through Salesforce procurement standards
  • Manage and scale data and technology partnerships both within Salesforce and with external partners across the Salesforce ecosystem to drive Salesforce GTM success
  • Actively partner with teams in Salesforce Marketing Technology, Business Technology, and Technology and Product organizations to ensure alignment and delivery of shared success for critical business processes and outcomes
  • Demonstrate industry thought leadership and customer success through presentations and engagements at Salesforce events, customer engagements, and 3rd party forums
  • Ensure Data & Analytics platforms technology and processes adhere to our #1 value of Trust with all needed security, data management, and compliance processes required for regulatory compliance and Salesforce standards

Position Requirements:

  • 15-20+ years in product/platform management and technical leadership, with at least 10 years managing significant size data organizations with a proven record of delivery of functionality and KPIs
  • Proven track record of launching and growing products in the enterprise space, preferably analytics platforms or similar technology. Preferred expertise managing large deployments and data volumes on modern analytical data platforms such as Snowflake, transformation platforms such as DBT, orchestration on Airflow, AI platforms with Sagemaker, and CI/CD processes with Github and code deployment platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in synthesizing and translating market needs into product requirements; ability to manifest the product vision/direction via compelling positioning, roadmaps, and technical delivery
  • Rigorous operational excellence to ensure data quality, pipeline reliability, platform uptime, and security controls. This role must deliver 99%+ platform up time with continuous improvement in speed, quality, and reliability
  • Deep knowledge and proven use of agile software development practices including Scrum/Agile methodology and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) for delivering software applications and platforms
  • Experience managing a 75-100+ FTE organization with demonstrated success growing an organization to meet the needs of the business through hiring FTEs, onboarding contingent staff, and integrating service providers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories for diverse audiences to communicate strategy, product roadmap, operational delivery, and industry thought leadership
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to influence and deliver results in global, matrixed environments comprised of multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally ~10%-20% of the time for team management, Salesforce sponsored events, industry thought leadership, and customer engagements

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $295,600 to $472,900.
