Job Overview

The R&D product development engineer (tooling) will work in a team that develops industrial termination machines for the appliance business, in a fast growing Business Unit. These machines are manufacturing harnesses, linking wires, connectors, and terminals on a mass scale. 

Responsibilities:

The position is project engineering-oriented, following system life from concept to end of development, including:

  • Drive innovation, monitoring industry trends and new technology opportunities, ensuring technical leadership.
  • Develop machines that meet or exceed customer and market requirements in terms of performance, leadtime and cost. This includes ensuring that product designs are well document and communicated. 
  • Monitor project development with a special focus on global supplier cooperation.
  • Ensure equipment compliance to applicable standards (e.g. CE) 
  • Lead problem solving activities, taking part in cross functional project teams with scientists and engineers to diagnose mechanical and system issues.
  • Operate in the field during troubleshooting, machine installations and commissioning
  • Cooperate to write technical specifications and document mechanical design.
  • Prepares detailed mechanical design drawings and reviews the adequacy of design features and general cost estimates.

Requirements:

  • Engineer with more than 8 years of working experience in Machine Design Engineering.
  • Technical university degree or diploma (Bachelor or Master Degree) or equivalent experience
  • More than six years’ experience in industrial automation
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and mechatronic design
  • Sound knowledge of CAD system platforms (CREO, Solid works, or Inventor 
  • Experience in connector or terminal tooling will be a plus
  • Knowledge of current automation software (e.g. Delphi, Beckhoff) and PLC programming (S7, TIA Portal) will be a plus
  • Very good level of knowledge in English Language, (speech, writing and comprehension) 
  • Good verbal, analytical and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, able to analyze data and use critical thinking to reach logical conclusions and decisions; results oriented; relies on fact-based logic for decision-making
  • Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision
