As a result of an internal promotion, we are looking for an Assistant Underwriter in our Casualty team to support an experienced and dynamic team of Underwriters in all tasks related to underwriting and administration support as well as managing the online portal referrals.

The role will work closely with Brooklyn Underwriters to support them in their activities associated with renewals, maintenance of the accounts and on models and systems. It will include assisting the team in data quality assurance and continuous development of best practice for the business.

What you will be doing:

  • Assist underwriters and senior underwriters renewal portfolio including pre-renewal notices, conducting research and pre-underwriting.
  • Act as a first point of contact for the Brooklyn Casualty team.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Policy maintenance across the full suite of products (including but not limited to endorsement of policies, cancellations, closings and general policy processing) and a comprehensive understanding of the online quote portal and systems/processes.
  • Preparation of monthly reports and credit control assistance when required.
  • Develop a solid network with all internal stakeholders within Brooklyn and the broader AXA XL group, claims, actuary and middle office.
  • Maintenance of online quoting portal and responding to new enquiries through the online quoting portal in line with business guidelines and appetite. 
  • Adherence to Underwriting guidelines and service standards
  • Promotion of a collaborative work culture with unwavering commitment to teamwork and team success.
  • Ensure compliance with internal corporate regulations and standards
  • Attend internal and external meetings and events with clients and brokers.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager.

  • Recent experience in the insurance sector
  • Adaptable and able to work in an exciting and fast paced environment
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and represent the team as first point of contact
  • ANZIIF tier 2 qualification highly regarded (higher qualification welcome)
  • High attention for details, analytical skills to visualise, gather information, articulate and solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accountable, takes ownership for own work and self-organised to meet deadlines
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Working rights for Australia
