The Opportunity: 

The Site Operations Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production and operations at the manufacturing facility. This individual will play a key role in driving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

We are looking for a dynamic and results-oriented leader with a proven track record of success in leading operations to peak performance. Adept at developing and implementing strategic initiatives that drive efficiency, improve processes, and enhance overall business performance. Known for a collaborative leadership style that fosters cross-functional teamwork and achieves organizational goals. This Leader will drive the Danaher culture and promote excellence and engagement through the application of Danaher Business System (DBS) including safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and profitability. 

This individual will report directly to VP Manufacturing in the Business Unit Downstream and Hardware Consumables within the Bioprocessing Operating Company.

In this role, you will: 

  • Ensure the efficient operation of the plant, including planning, scheduling, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, materials management, warehouse/logistics, quality, and safety. Manage the plant within budget, including expenses related to labour, materials, tooling, supplies, equipment, and maintenance. Work with the commercial teams to understand demand and create actions accordingly as well as working with cross functional teams to drive new products into manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and promote a culture of safety, responsible for implementing and maintaining safety protocols to protect both employees and the environment. Ensure that environmental regulations and good practices are adhered to. External customer audits and meetings/commitments with regulatory agencies
  • Successfully implement the use of Danaher Business System to continuously drive improvements. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity through efficient daily visual management.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities outside the plant to further develop the site and continue to grow.
  • Leads monthly site level operating reviews focused on KPI and financial performance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all personnel within the plant.
  • Accelerate talent management to ensure the continued development for direct reports. Partner closely with the human resources organization in developing organizational capabilities through succession planning, organizational assessment, identification of key skill gaps, talent acquisition and talent development strategies that link with business goals. 
  • Communicate values, strategies, and objectives within the plant. Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including leadership team, associates, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ensure strong relationships with union partners, broad experience in Collective Labour Agreement negotiations and Works council meetings.

Key Competencies: 

  • Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing strategies to optimize production processes, minimize costs, and enhance overall efficiency and productivity.
  • Operations Management: Proficiency in managing all aspects of plant operations, including production scheduling, inventory control, quality assurance, maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Problem-solving Skills: Aptitude for identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions to address challenges that arise in the manufacturing process.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis to ensure the plant operates within budgetary constraints while maximizing profitability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Understands the eight wastes as defined by the Toyota Production System.
  • Quality Management: Ensuring products meet or exceed quality standards through effective quality control measures such as PFMEA and manufacturing control plans as well as adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities to liaise with various stakeholders, including senior management, employees, suppliers, customers, and union members, fostering collaboration and alignment towards common goals.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify potential risks to operations and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity and minimizing disruptions.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with modern manufacturing technologies and automation systems to leverage advancements in equipment and software for improved efficiency and competitiveness.
  • People Development: Dedication to employee training, development, and empowerment to build a skilled and motivated workforce capable of achieving performance targets and driving organizational success.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and labor regulations to maintain a safe and ethical work environment and protect the company's reputation.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Relevant Scientific/Engineering/Manufacturing/ Business degree 
  • Plus 10 years’ experience in Manufacturing in an international matrix environment in Pharma, Life Science, Diagnostics industry, within a lean manufacturing environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams. 
  • Multicultural mindset with a demonstrated ability to cultivate an inclusive culture keeping associate engagement and development at the heart of how the business wins as a team. 
  • Fluent in Swedish and English.
