The postdoctoral fellowship focuses on training competent clinical psychologists to provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions and state of the art assessment. The fellowship is oriented to psychologists with solid clinical training and experience, who are seeking a career providing psychotherapy and assessment in an outpatient setting. Fellows will receive broad training in providing evidence-based clinical interventions to a diverse patient population. Fellows will also participate in didactics, clinical supervision with staff, and group consultation meetings. 

Applicants must be post-masters from an APA-approved graduate program in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in a permanent staff position following the completion of a one year postdoctoral fellowship. 

Fellows will have the opportunity to specialize in one of five training tracks:

Therapy – Child, Adolescent, and Family

Therapy – Adult

Therapy – Generalist

Integrated Care

  • IBH fellows will be physically located at one of our integrated care sites and field referrals from physicians and other providers (e.g., nurse practitioners) within that practice.
  • IBH fellows will provide consultation to providers, brief assessment, evidence-based intervention, and triage to other LifeStance departments or community resources. 
  • IBH fellows will have the opportunity to learn about the model of integrated primary care and how to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team.
  • Successful fellows will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be able to think on their feet, communicate clinical information efficiently, and enjoy working with a wide range of clinical presentations.

Training Opportunities/Components of the Training Program

  • Providing evidence-based treatment (including CBT, health psychology/behavioral medicine, biofeedback & stress management, traditional psychodynamic models, TMS, and tele-psychology) for a variety of disorders, including brief-treatment models, individual and family modalities, and group therapy interventions
  • Utilizing assessment batteries to inform case conceptualization and formulation of treatment plan
  • Didactics
  • Individual supervision
  • Weekly group supervision
  • Consult groups for specific specialty areas, including health psychology, couples work, child and family therapy, geriatric psychology, trauma focused work, eating disorders, and young child rounds.

Didactics

LifeStance Health is an APA-Approved continuing education provider. Fellows will attend many seminars throughout the fellowship on topics that are likely to include the following:

  • Ethics and Professional Issues
  • Psychopharmacology
  • Assessment
  • Psychopathology
  • Evidence-Based Treatments for Various Disorders
  • Cultural Diversity

Supervision

Fellows will receive individual supervision weekly, as well as participate in weekly group case consultation meetings and rounds. Risk management consultation will be provided as needed throughout one’s employment. 

Pre-requisites

The successful applicant will have earned a doctorate in psychology from an appropriate health service provider training program in a properly accredited institution of higher learning and completed an APA accredited internship. All doctoral degree requirements must be expected to be completed prior to the starting date of the fellowship. 

Expectations

The fellowship begins August 26, 2024.

Psychology fellows typically work Monday through Friday and have no on-call or overnight duties besides providing emergency coverage for patients for whom they are providing ongoing treatment. Fellows typically work a 40 hour work week dependent on clinical and paperwork demands. The specific start and end times will vary day to day, but may include up to 2 evenings a week. Fellows are expected to average 25 patient contact hours per week. Fellows will be expected to apply for licensure and take exams (EPPP and MA state exam) as soon as eligible in Massachusetts.
