The Role Responsibilities

  • Business Banking (“BB”) within Standard Chartered Bank aims to provide small and medium enterprise companies in Vietnam a suite of Trade & Working Capital (“TWC”) products that meets their financing requirements.
  • The Trade Specialist role is to provide expertise & support to BB Unit to identify trade opportunities within the BB client segment and grow trade revenue contribution to BB through the following:
  • To work closely with BB frontline teams and internal business partners to jointly develop in trade finance solutions and deliver these trade services in a manner that are relevant to the BB clients.
  • To work closely with Group BB Trade and in country Transaction Banking Product team to enable all relevant offerings to BB Unit
  • To work closely with BB Product team in designing E2E process to facilitate sales delivery of relevant Trade product from time to time. Depends on resources planning, the TS will also perform assigned tasks related to TWC lending products.
  • To develop and identify new prospects for Trade onboarding / cross-sell and provide Trade-related news / updates to targeted prospects through SCB marketing communication, client events & alliances with external partners (for e.g. trade associations / accounting firms /etc.)
  • To review BB RMs’ account plans with a view to increase SCB wallet share for Trade products and to increase contribution of trade revenues.
  • To guide and manage documentation and post transaction monitoring and servicing. Be the contact point and hand-hold newly onboarded BB Trade clients during the first 6-12 months of onboarding to drive utilisation of Trade facilities, across BCA and non-BCA clients.
  • To obtain latest product developments from TB and update sales team of new trade related development and latest integrated channels capabilities (for e.g., S2B NextGen Trade)
  • To conduct training & best practice sharing sessions with all BB frontline teams and touch-points on various Trade related initiatives and product knowledge.

  • Ensure CDD profiles are error free for timely sign off
  • Follow and comply with AML CDD policies and procedures where applicable
  • Identify KYC issues, provide solution or escalate to line manager if necessary
  • Ensure internal / external KYC requirements are adhered to AML CDD policies and procedures
  • Timely handling of customer issues, complaints, and product enquiries in accordance with established procedures

Our Ideal Candidate

  • University Graduate
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in serving business/commercial/corporate clients. Experience in servicing international businesses under the cross-border context is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of experience directly relevant to Trade in different capacities (Operations, Services, Client Facing, Product, etc.)
  • Excellent financial analysis skills and ability to assess client creditworthiness and key risk considerations / mitigations
  • Sound product knowledge on trade, cash, lending and FX and strong understanding of local industries, supply/value chains and market environment
  • Dedicated and committed team player with ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of operational procedures, documentation requirements, banking practices and regulations related to business and commercial banking
  • Firm in all business guidelines and compliance issues
  • Sound knowledge of financial markets and investment products
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
