Director, Human Resources for India & Next Gen Technologies

Job Overview

This HR Director position is well suited for a seasoned human resources professional who is passionate about the strategic delivery of HR business partnering services and wants to play a key leadership role in a fast-growing IT related multinational. The principal purpose of the role is to be responsible for ensuring the delivery of comprehensive and professional HR services while providing expert advice to managers and staff across the organization. This position reports directly to the APJ regional HR VP and works in close partnership with the VP of the commercial entities in India. The ideal candidate will be ready for larger responsibilities in the near to medium term to include positions outside of India. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the HR function including talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, talent development, performance management, employee relations and projects, in the assigned geographies and/or businesses. The current focus is on India with additional responsibilities for a regional business unit in the near to mid-term. 
  • In alignment with global and regional strategy, co-develops and implements strategic HR priorities in support of the business strategy and annual business objectives. 
  • Acts as a change leader and cultural steward to ensure effective implementation of strategies and initiatives. Guides management and employee actions by implementing, communicating and enforcing organization values and culture. 
  • Consults proactively with and influences senior management on business issues, HR strategies and organizational design issues
  • Coaches vice-presidents, directors, managers and supervisors in the preparation of
  • organization and employee development plans and actions.
  • Coaches supervisors, managers and directors to determine fair, consistent and market-based compensation decisions. 
  • Communicates and interacts regularly with the management and employees of assigned client groups in order to identify emerging Human Resource issues.
  • Collaborates in a proactive, timely and transparent manner with peers across the organization.
  • Ensures the HR department meets internal customer expectations and provides senior level HR guidance to the business. Guides, inspires, develops and mentors HR team
  • Reviews HR processes to continuously improve HR service levels
  • Provides expert advice and works in partnership with all employees and staff representatives to resolve issues and disputes. Fairly and consistently handles grievances and disciplinary issues
  • Participates in senior management meetings and initiatives as a member of regional leadership
  • Works in a professional manner at all times with clients, customers, team members and
  • management
  • Leads employee/labor relations initiatives and ensures an effective and professional approach is taken when dealing with employee relations, including guiding managers and leaders on the most appropriate actions. Consults with legal counsel in employee relations litigations and represents the company at personnel hearings and investigations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a fast-paced business environment with high levels of curiosity in learning how our business works and where it is going. 
  • Fluent in English and local dialects
  • Advanced knowledge of labor law in India.
  • Previous international HR experience in a multinational corporation is preferred. 
  • Adept in working with matrix and multicultural environments
  • Proven record of successful mentoring, supervision or management of personnel
  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on quality. Able to work with minimal guidance
  • Detail oriented with the ability to think strategically
  • Capable of constructively resolving conflict
  • Able to work within a team in an open and professional manner
  • Exceptional communication skills and computer literacy
  • Sound planning, prioritizing and organizational skills
  • Ambition and attitude to succeed within an organization that strives for commercial success without compromising on quality and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years’ experience in a HR leadership role (regional preferred).
  • Professional certifications (SHRM, CIPD, Change Management, etc.) preferred
  • 10+ years relevant management experience.
  • Willing and able to take on a broader and/or higher-level role in the near to mid-term
