This is a critical role to support the QA Process, Tooling, and Strategic direction of QA to drive efficiencies and quality across solutions. Needs to support existing tools built in-house for the QA Framework, Avatar DevOps in addition to moving to the next level with AI tooling integration and Overall Automation Growth and Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Continual review, maintenance, and development of existing QA Platform software, integrated tools, and automation representing current and future state system architecture, visualization, database, and application layers, and applied test processes, manual or automated. Against current or emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Maintain an Inquisitive knowledge of test industry trends through the identification and definition of new strategies and tools for the testing processes to include test and performance automation, methodologies to improve QA approaches, and metrics results capture. Able to build Proof-of-concepts.
  • Analyze systems across business processes, methodologies, use cases, application, database, infrastructure, test environments, and test related artifacts for quality assurance test plans, test specifications, and test types. Document current state and build future state test architectural roadmaps across all tiers and test types.
  • Look for opportunities to change, to grow, to innovate, to improve, to challenge the status quo. Provide recommendations or alternatives.
  • Represent, large-scale, complex QA streams, and/or projects; often involving multiple internal and external components and matrix partners
  • Ability to routinely analyze, identify, and deliver business plans and reporting surrounding QA metrics, Risk Assessment and Mitigation, Trending, etc. Heavily focused on test automation.
  • Provide technical leadership by analyzing business processes, applications, architecture, and infrastructure to identify pain points, inefficiencies, make recommendations, and drive automated solutions and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, stability, capacity, and resiliency of the applications, architecture, databases, and the test library and execution framework via test automation and reporting capabilities.
  • Lead in-depth technical discussions with clients, internal and external stakeholders and analyze architecture diagrams, documentation, code, and data to identify the best test approaches.
  • Provide influential technical leadership, coaching, and guidance across all levels of the organization; motivate others to achieve shared aspirations
  • Provide oversight and/or assist in the senior technical review, development and execution of test plan definition, design, and development or other functions identified as necessary.
  • Provide oversight, evaluate, and assist the teams to perform manual/automated functional, regression, integrated, and performance testing against new or modified software programs and procedures used to verify that programs function according to requirements and conform to establishment guidelines as necessary.
  • Continually promote a positive work environment, seeking solutions to roadblocks across the matrix
  • Be an Influential and focused member of the team cultivating and disseminating knowledge promoting the bigger picture and driving factors for software testing and delivery.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MIS or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in developing and working with web-based, pc-based, and mobile applications built with .NET, JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript and Web technologies, Linux utilizing varying databases for data storage and retrieval in a native and public cloud environment.
  • At least 5 years of technical experience in software development and automated testing, test design, and test automation tools
  • At least 6 years of experience with full lifecycle test development using Agile methods including technical leadership for the team.
  • At least 4 years of experience with capacity and performance analysis of complex systems
  • At least 4 years of experience working in heterogeneous environments and application architectures (Windows .Net, Linux/Unix, iOS, Android, Java / Delphi thick client applications, Web-based application, Web Services, Micro-service architecture, Public and Private Cloud)
  • At least 3 years direct experience as a lead engineer for a major application integration and/or product release
  • Working Knowledge of physical, virtual, and cloud deployment pipeline and test automation integration strategies
  • Working knowledge of DevOps (Development Operations)/SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) – ability to articulate, advocate, and implement automation concepts for CI/CD test automation integration with automated deployments and validation
  • Strong written and verbal communication with active listening and probing skills and ability to present with varying audience levels to include peers or executive leadership.
  • Ability to identify and resolve automation critical issues with ease ensuring repeatability, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Requires a general understanding of business operations, business terminology, and business communications.
  • Able to comprehend, perform project planning and execution, and mentor others while delivering on large, complex QA initiatives with no assistance and review.
  • Ability to logically identify issues using a level of abstraction and troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills and prediction where necessary in identifying defects, test coverage, and gaps in requirements.
  • Ability to identify where supporting documentation is required and produce testing process and procedural documentation and training to support the education of others.
  • Must demonstrate a metric-driven approach with proven success for all facets of the test cycle.
  • Ability to work under pressure with shifting and demanding priorities while maintaining focus and composure.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with multiple development frameworks and test automation tools, frameworks, and/or software with the ability to speak to. Selenium or test automation scripting tool equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret and apply scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Python)
  • Familiarity with Node.js, web object identification (e.g. XPath)
  • Ability to create cost-benefit analysis and business proposals based on recommendations.
