Job Description

This is a direct hire role 

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to assist with journal entries, bank reconciliations, month-end close, reviewing invoices and special projects as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The Staff Accountant will process and post weekly and monthly journal entries.
  2. The Staff Accountant will assist with month-end close and financial reporting
  3. The Staff Accountant will maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
  4. The Staff Accountant will prepare and distribute weekly management reports.
  5. The Staff Accountant will assist with external/internal audit requests.
  6. The Staff Accountant will facilitate intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  7. The Staff Accountant will reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  8. The Staff Accountant will perform ad hoc analysis and projects as needed.
  9. The Staff Accountant will prepare and post Job Cost transfers
  • The Staff Accountant will maintain accrual records and amortization schedules
  • The Staff Accountant will maintain the fixed asset system and records monthly depreciation entries.
  • The Staff Accountant will support team members on all accounting issues.
  • The Staff Accountant will handle other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional in promoting company culture & mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners
  • Must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral direction(s) to project personnel.
  • Must have solid attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret project documents, including but not limited to, timesheets, spreadsheets and billing documents.
  • Must be able to effectively operate office equipment & computer devices commonly used in the industry.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of Accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Construction accounting experience preferred
  • Must have previous accounting software experience required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Strong organization and time management skills required.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Must be capable of reporting research results with open and clear communication skills.
  • High level of Confidentiality
