Federal Signal Corporation is seeking a Corporate Staff Accountant for its Oak Brook headquarters - This position offers a hybrid work environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain cash accounts, monthly bank reconciliations and treasury assistance.
  • Prepare analyses, reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly invoices related to inter-company and other accounts.
  • Prepare and upload recurring and miscellaneous monthly journal entries.
  • Upload Corporate actual financials and forecasts, including supplemental data, into Cognos.
  • Monitor and review monthly reconciliation and journal entry binders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist internal and external auditors with requests and questions specific to the Staff Accountant’s accounts. Support the preparation of various SEC filings, including Form 10-Q/K.
  • Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required 
  • CPA, or CPA candidate, highly preferred
  • Prior accounting experience via an internship, public accounting or corporate accounting role preferred
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Introductory knowledge of the following preferred:
  • FASB and SEC rules and regulations, 
  • Enterprise Resource Planning system, and 
  • Consolidation software
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Ability to adapt to and operate within a fast-paced environment
