Thermo Fisher Scientific are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager (f/m/d) Research Services to join the Research Services team, responsible for all services not limited to Peptides, Drug Discovery services, cell line development and Gene Editing. You will serve as a driver of the assigned custom services portfolio, demonstrating scientific expertise and driving adoption of the portfolio with a focus on the Pharma/Biotech sector, gaining share from competition, as well as maintaining the existing business and customer base, becoming recognised as a technical leader within the sales force.

A day in the Life

  • Implement a commercial sales plan to secure and grow large research service contracts with Pharma/Biotech clients to achieve/ exceed the territory plan
  • Promote and market the Research Services portfolio internally and externally
  • Deliver technical presentations and sell services solutions across client-led workflows
  • Engage internal and external collaborators crafting a network of high-value clients, setting up longer term partnerships
  • Maintain an actionable strategic business plan for the territory ensuring delivery of revenues to plan on a quarterly basis
  • Apply solid understanding of Professional, Consultative, and Strategic Selling skills to maintain existing business, develop incremental business in existing accounts, and conduct cold calls to develop new business.
  • Demonstrate use of selling skills in the field, such as making good opening statements, connecting with the customer, asking high gain questions, creating the value proposition and closing.
  • Maintain and increase current customer database through Company customer relations management software (Siebel CRM). Use system completely to fulfill management expectations recording and applying customer and sales information.
  • Communicates key competitor activities, market trends, changing customer needs, development plans and priorities.
  • Provide a revenue report out & forecast for services by month to the relevant commercial leaders.
  • Perform other objectives as assigned by sales management.

Keys to Success

  • Degree in Life Sciences or extensive experience in cell & molecular biology
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel between 70- 80% in your territory to implement your duties
  • Consistent track record in sales with experience of sophisticated negotiations
  • Outstanding problem solving and social skills
  • Excellent negotiator, outstanding professional presence and an eye for business
  • Possesses excellent verbal communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse customer audiences such as Economic Decision Makers, other influencers, and internal audiences across functions. Communication skills include excellent listening and presentation skills.
  • Experience in leading/influencing collaborators in a matrix environment
  • Ability to function optimally within a high-performance team with strong team building skills and the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and training skills.
  • Dedication to contributions as a team member in a fast-paced, driven and dynamic field!
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated to work at a highly technical level.
  • Must be proficient in German & English

  • Minimum 2 years proven successful sales experience within Life Sciences sector
