Position Overview

It’s an exciting time at Navistar! We are seeking an experienced Industrial Design Intern to join the Navistar Innovation and Design team. As part of the Traton Group, our team is involved with the development of emerging technologies, electrification, autonomous driving, and sustainability to create the future of the commercial truck and bus industry.

As an Industrial Design Intern, you will be a part of our team helping to transform the industry. Come be a part of our rich history in Innovation and Design.

The Industrial Design Intern is responsible to independently produce interior and exterior sketches and renderings for concept and production vehicle products.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to create high fidelity, presentation quality renderings and visualization of concepts.
  • Ability to successfully translate sketch and rendered concepts into CAD or 3D model form working with digital and physical modeling teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B or F-1 status)

Desired Skills

  • At least Sophomore standing for undergrad at the time of application
  • Able to work at least 12 weeks (starting the end of May or early June through August)
  • Previous applicable internships
  • Self-starter
  • High level of computer skills (Microsoft Applications and Internet)
  • Ability to use Photoshop CS, Illustrator
  • Maintain the digital data library and other digital assets for future presentations and marketing team requests
  • Portfolios containing subject matter commensurate with the position must be submitted to be considered
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skill
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team setting
