We are currently seeking an innovative Software Developer, Co-op/Intern to join our Research & Development team in Burnaby.

In this dynamic role, you will be immersed in cutting-edge AI experiments and projects, focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs) and custom model development/training. This Co-op/Internship position will provide you with hands-on experience in the fast-evolving field of AI, working with technologies such as machine learning frameworks, natural language processing, and neural network architectures. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Research & Development.

What you'll work on:

  • Participating as an active member of our R&D team, which includes:
  • Developing and testing AI models, particularly LLMs.
  • Regularly reporting on experiment results and research findings.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts and other development team members.
  • Engaging in AI-focused company initiatives, and contributing to discussions on AI strategy and innovation.
  • Designing and implementing AI-driven features and improvements for our suite of products.
  • Receiving and providing feedback to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Expanding your knowledge and skills in AI to advance towards a career as a software developer specializing in artificial intelligence.

What you may have:

  • You’ve completed your second-year coursework and are a 3rd or 4th-year Computer Science/Engineering student with a keen interest in AI.
  • You have a passion for AI and are excited about the potential of LLMs and custom models.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL, JavaScript) and a desire to apply these to AI challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts in written, verbal, and spoken forms.

Wage Range: $22/hr
