We design, manufacture and service guidance, navigation, and control systems, fuel sensing systems, and health/diagnostic/prognostic systems for commercial and military aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and other platforms.

The Lead Manufacturing & Operations Technician will be responsible for a variety of technical tasks with the goal to maintain and improve the SYSTEMS production floor and testing area. The SYSTEMS area is responsible for the production of Sensors and IMU’s (Inertial Measurement Units) on a variety of product lines including but not limited to the AIM9X and JAVELIN MISSLE SYSTEMS. This role involves the managing of Product, Test Equipment, and support the roles of production associates. Critical problem-solving skills and good communication and soft skills will be desired.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical tasks based on written or verbal instructions.
  • Utilize technical assets such as microelectronic, electronic, optical, electro-optical, mechanical, or electromechanical equipment, including computers and lasers.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, calibration or modification of hardware, fixtures, and software.
  • Participate on and/or lead project teams.
  • Apply technical expertise in the evaluation, development, maintenance and use of complex products, devices, tests, or procedures under constantly changing conditions where moderate ingenuity and judgments are required.
  • Design simple circuits, fixtures, or mechanical parts.
  • Provide technical solutions to engineering.
  • Participate on safety initiatives. Manufacturing Activities
  • Support manufacturing activities through the resolution of production problems, fabrication of complex hardware, equipment, and training.
  • Self- manage workflow throughout area with minimal guidance, to achieve team goals.
  • Identify and correct minor process, material, design, or equipment problems.
  • Actively participate in material review activities including troubleshooting of non-conformances.
  • Perform mid-level (moderately complex) testing or mechanical operations on production/repair hardware including troubleshooting to component level.
  • Provide skill specific training to improve technique and/or understanding of theory of operation.
  • Fabricate complex equipment, hardware, or prototypes. Documentation
  • Generate reports from test results and communicate results or take immediate corrective action to assure proper disposition of items in question.
  • Write test procedures and manufacturing work instruction for complex or detailed assembly or test operations.
  • Utilize multiple databases to create/use necessary information to provide information for decision making requiring judgment. Technical Asset Management
  • Manage technical assets which requires support from personnel, outside sources, and other functional groups to complete tasks.
  • Requisition, manage, and maintain technical assets.
  • Provides tooling, fixture, software and equipment design and maintenance, as well as troubleshooting/repair.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
  • Must have experience troubleshooting and the ability to interpret schematics
  • Production assembly and Inspection Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be motivated and dedicated to exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Critical Problem Solving experience

The salary range for this role is 48,000 USD - 116,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
