Summary/Objective

The Assistant Director, Technology & Marketing is responsible for managing all OCE’s technology systems and leads marketing and promotion of OCE events, priorities and services. 

Essential Functions

  1. Technology Systems: Maintains technology systems provided by external vendors (e.g., BigInterview, VMock, GoinGlobal, Firsthand, (Vault) CareerLeader, CliftonStrengths etc.) Liaises with vendors to report/resolve issues and ensure functionality, and coordinates with Office of Information Technology (OIT) and KSB’s Marketing & Communications team for website support as needed. Trains staff on system upgrade. Ensures easy access to resources through links on Handshake and other sites. Troubleshoots user issues individually or in conjunction with vendors, creates user accounts. Acts as Handshake Administrator facilitating account access, conducting CRM imports, coordinating with central AUCC staff, trouble-shooting account access, represents OCE on AU wide committee and maintains training documentation. Provides quarterly usage reports and explores options for under-utilized system capabilities. Researches new vendors/systems and makes recommendations regarding implementation.
  2. Manage Marketing & Communication for Office of Career Engagement: Oversees the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies that raise awareness and usage of OCE services, resources, and events among students, alumni, employers, faculty, staff, and external audiences. Directs internal and external communication efforts for OCE in coordination with Kogod’s Marketing and Communication team. Manages OCE’s web presence, including OCE website, SharePoint, and Canvas sites in partnership with Kogod’s Marketing and Communication team. Develops and executes OCE’s comprehensive social media strategy including LinkedIn groups related to career pathways in conjunction with OCE Directors, Social Media Intern and Kogod’s Marketing and Communication Team. Designs and produces content for OCE events and programs. Stays abreast of social media trends, including best practices for determining return on investment. 
  3. Student Worker Supervision: Manages Social Media Student Intern. 
  4. Other Duties as Assigned: Represents OCE on relevant committees and initiatives. 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Supervises student staff as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-Time, 35 hours/week.
  • Coordinator/Analyst A.
  • Non-Exempt.
  • This is a union-eligible position.

Salary Range

  • $60,000.00 - $70,000.00/year; to commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Position requires solid marketing strategy, social media, communication and computer skills, along with excellent interpersonal, team-building, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to participate in multiple team projects. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.

Union Eligibility

This position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 500. That means the terms and conditions of your employment are governed by university policy (including the Staff Personnel Policies Manual) and any collective bargaining agreement entered into between American University and SEIU Local 500.
