Project Summary:

MSI is a key partner in the Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI)-2 Project, which is led by World Learning. QITABI-2 combines a crisis response and development approach to expand equitable access to education and improve learning outcomes for children. MSI will collect and analyze data on students’ performance levels in reading, writing, math, and social-emotional learning (SEL) in Arabic, French, and English; develop performance benchmarks in reading, writing, and math; conduct surveys and observations of teachers’ instructional knowledge and practices; and design and implement a comprehensive capacity building plan for CRDP and DOPS in national assessment and data for decision-making. MSI will conduct a literacy and numeracy assessment for the QITAB 2 project. The study will be carried out in 2024 in 278 schools throughout Lebanon and will target students in Grades 2, 3, and 6.

Position Summary:

The Data Collection Assistant will support the procurement and organization of the materials required for the endline study and help review and track data during data collection. Prior to data collection, the Assistant will provide ongoing support to inventory and organize the assessment materials, including test booklets and other materials, and schedule school visits. During data collection, the Assistant will also work with MSI’s local partner to review, organize, and track data collected in the schools. The Assistant will ensure answer sheets are completed correctly, process data, and inform the technical team of errors. The Assistant will work from the QITABI-2 offices or other designated locations in Beirut. The contract for this position is for 60 to 70 working days from January to May 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Review already procured assessment materials, inventory, and organize them.
  • Identify procurement needs for the data collection.
  • Call schools to confirm participation in the study.
  • Support the development of a school visit schedule.
  • Provide administrative support to training sessions.
  • Review daily all assessment answer forms received from the data collection teams.
  • Review answer sheets for errors and notify the technical team of recurring mistakes that should be communicated to the data collection teams for correction.
  • Ensure that all the answer sheets are scanned properly according to tracking information enveloped and reported by the data collection teams.
  • Process files using Remark software.
  • Flag any issues with the scanning or processing of the data.
  • Ensure all answer sheets are organized by school, grade, and subject, and sealed in proper envelopes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Academic background in education, psychology, social sciences, research, or related fields is preferred.
  • Minimum one year of working experience is required.
  • Experience providing administrative and logistical support to an office or project is preferred.
  • Experience with technology, including scanners and computers is required.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and PDF formats is required.
  • Managerial experience with data collection, processing, and monitoring is preferred.
  • Fluency in reading and speaking in Arabic required.
