Everest Insurance, the primary insurance division of Everest Group, Ltd., is seeking a Senior Vice President, and Head of US Financial Lines. This division is focused on partnering with our brokers and insureds on delivering customized solutions for their financial lines related risk needs. This individual will be a critical member of the North American leadership team. Ideally the candidate will be based in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area. This leader will be an integral member of our team, supporting us on our journey to become the most admired insurance company in the world by transforming risk into opportunity.

The Head of Financial Lines division will oversee all products for Management and Professional Lines of business, which include:

Public Company Directors & Officers, Financial Institutions, Cyber Liability, Private Company/Not-for-Profit Directors & Officers Professional Liability

The candidate will be responsible for driving strategy and profitability, for the overall group, as well as hiring, development and retention of the staff.

  • Accountability for the strategic direction, oversight and performance of the Financial Lines Portfolio for the United States.
  • Responsible for successful execution of the plan; adjusting strategies and actions to meet the needs of a changing marketplace; effectively preserve and enhance profitability through product development and enhancement; pricing discipline, competitive analysis and the development of business-enhancing performance metrics and controls. 
  • To collaborate with the Corporate Underwriting Function to ensure best of class service capabilities are in place to support Everest Underwriting capabilities.
  • Work closely and collaborate with the global Underwriting and Risk leaders: overall strategy; portfolio and aggregate management; underwriting appetite and guidelines and budget deliverables.
  • Works in close collaboration with and shares accountability with:
  • Claims & reserving – to pick up on trends and explain any changes achieved or planned for the portfolio
  • Regional Distribution leadership to develop and execute marketing and distribution plans
  • Exposure management to ensure accuracy of data and within tolerances
  • Ceded re to ensure optimized reinsurance protection and cost
  • Counterparts around the world and the company to embed class strategy within the overall country strategy
  • Represent Everest at various broker & client industry conferences and events, utilize existing and develop new external trading relationships in conjunction with line-underwriters and collaborate with all other product divisions to deliver a One Everest client-centric approach.
  • Implementing underwriting guidelines and executing underwriting strategy.
  • Align, empower, and influence others through ideas and encouragement and insight.
  • Overall responsibility for the Property department P&L and delivery of P&L KPIs.
  • Primary point for all peer reviews for the department.
  • Business development and execution of yearly business and budget planning.
  • Provide insurance solutions & broader risk management support to clients most complex risks and challenges.
  • Developing a business and marketing plan, building brand and product awareness through broker market.
  • Expanding and enhancing the current product range to enhance Everest’s competitive position as a market leader in the sector.
  • To ensure that the underwriting governance and control frameworks are operating effectively and to apprise the CUO on a regular basis of all relevant underwriting management matters.
  • To undertake regular reviews of risks written in the portfolio to ensure adherence with risk appetite, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements, and to follow up on any actions and/or escalate any risk events as required.

Skills & Abilities

  • 20+ years of demonstrable experience in progressive commercial underwriting in the US marketplace.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in managing profitable portfolios.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, with the ability to provide concise executive summaries to senior management.
  • Highly collaborative and able to work effectively across the organization as well as with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt, drive, effect and embrace change, solutions driven.
  • Tenacity and decisiveness, with the courage to take risks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates respect for the opinions of others.
  • Proven experience in leading, managing and developing underwriting talent.

For NYC Only: The base salary range for this position is $300,000 - $400,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
